Surprised no one has signed Ryan Williams off our PS

Teams are constantly scouring the available talent for upgrading the bottom of their rosters. Williams remains on the Cowboys practice squad because no team has yet to believe he provides an upgrade to what they already have.

I dont feel like they do it much with RBs. We never have. Until one of our RBs got hurt.

The Bills traded for Bryce Brown in the off season. He will most likely step in as the starter.

I think its unlikely they poach Williams.

for sure he is the starter. but they need a backup. again, i hope they dont poach him, but he probably has the best pedigree as a high draft pick, with NFL starts under his belt, of any RB on any team's PS.

I think we overrate him. Otherwise, he would be playing by now.

There's no one to play him over though. As a overall back Randle is better than him and Dunbar is our change of pace back. Ryan Williams best chance to make this team was on special teams, being healthy and being able to block in the running game. That being said, I don't feel too bad about him going in there if one of our backs were to get hurt.

Most teams in the league are passing oriented. So, you would want a player that can pick up the blitz well and Williams isn't overly impressive in that area. That and ST play is why Williams didn't make the 53-man roster. The Bills may pick him up, but I don't think it's overly surprising (surprising to a degree, but certainly not shocking) that Williams hasn't been picked up.

I think he's very good, but too many fans don't understand how coaches think when it comes to backup RB's. You really need them to be able to play ST given the roster limitations. There was some discussion that the NFL may get rid of the 45 men active on game day and just make all 53 players active. If so, then that would change things for a player like Williams. But, with only 45 players active on game day and that includes the long snapper, punter and kicker....you can't have your backup RB's not being special teams players.

He's not on our roster because he can't beat out the guy who is there, and he can't beat him out because of his work on ST and because of his pass protection. I like the player a lot for what he is, but if he gets poached, we'll move on to another player like him. There are enough of them around that we won't have trouble finding one.

i fear you are right..

williams running behind this line would be fun to watch..

i guess his blocking skills scare the coaches..

how bout just running run plays when he is in then?

Teams would then catch on very quick. You would just stack the box completely if he's in there if you are never going to pass when he's in the game. Can't do that.

I mean it's not just us who didn't want him on our active roster. Not one other team 7 weeks in has taken a chance. Got to be some stuff we just don't see every day like they do that is the reason for that.
