Only 6 CB's had more Int's then Newman's 5.
Devin McCourtey-7
Asante Samuel-7
Joe Haden-6
D-Hall-6
Aqib Talib-6
Tramon Williams-6

Only 2 safeties had more INT's then Sensabaugh's 5.

Ed Reed-8
Troy Polamalu-7
-------------------------
The bad part is the yardage difference.

Newman had 16 return yards (although he had -18 on one interception against WASH trying to run the clock down)
And Sensi managed 26 yards.

Everyone else had a minimum of 48 yards, with most being in the 80-100 yard range.

Sadly most of our INT's were shams. They were less the result of our DB's going and making a play, and more the result of getting a gift thrown right into their hands.

In their defense, at least they caught the ball though. Newman rebounded a little bit from his poor season the last couple games. Still got beat bad by a 3rd stringer today though. White boy burned him bad on the double move ha.

Almost every INT Samuel and D.Hall had were thrown straight to them as well. Thats just how it works. Im happy that we at least caught the ball on defense this year, would have loved to break more big plays out of it.

I am pretty sure McCann has more return yardage on his one pick then the rest of our team had put together.

Lmao....

"Sham INT's"...a new stat. Just like "Meaningless Sacks" and the "Should Have Been INT's" that Romo throws. Only Dallas Cowboy players accumulate such stats.:laugh2:

Yep thats why for the season Jason Garrett's record was:

5wins-0 losses-3 should have wons

Quarterback success when throwing to Newman was still ridiculously high not as high as Mike Jenkins though but nonetheless. You can't just look at stats in a vaccuum. Same goes for Sensabaugh.

Samuel made a few really nice plays on the ball this year and is great at baiting the QB. You don't see Newman doing that at all.

I gave them credit for catching the ball at least. You can't tell me Newman's picks were the result of making great plays though. Any of them.

Newman got 5 picks, but he obviously had a bad year. He got beat today even.

Although as i said, overall his past few games have rebounded his poor season a little.

Can you cite the int's of the others with more?

It's not that they weren't "shams", but I am pretty sure that the others ahead of him didn't make all Clark Kent grabs...

I'm not a huge fan of Newman, but I am a realist...

Hammer it out...

First of all, just having a little fun.:)

Secondly, I do think that anticipating routes could have something to do with it. I also know that other DB's get gift-wrapped INT's all the time, as well. Just think of any that Romo throws. You'll almost always hear about how he made such a terrible throw or decision. Rarely do you hear that a DB just flat out made a good play.

I gave him credit for catching the ball.. what do you want?

Me to say that Newman made some really great plays on the ball this year? He had a poor year.. got some INT's that were a result of badly thrown balls. Not much more can be said. Maybe "sham" wasn't the best choice of word, but the simple point was that Newman didn't make many plays on the ball this year at all and was beaten like a mule.

I also gave him credit for rebounding a little the past couple games, but overall he still had a very poor season and is not the same player he was in the past for us.

The pick against Washington to seal the game is the only one i can think of where it seemed he anticipated the route well to get the INT.

Can you think of another one this season?

Of course, INTs are by and large luck on the part of the person making the interception.

...ly out of touch on this topic.

How can you argue with this stuff? Delusion is such a powerful argument.

That's actually the one that came to mind. I didn't get to watch today's game yet, so I don't know about them.

But again, most INT's are the fault of a bad throw or decision, I'd think. Most DB's have INT's given to them.

Who cares? They stop drives just the same and keep points off the board just as well.

If we want to believe our guys get the easy ones and the other guys get all the hard ones, that's ok by me. As long as we keep getting them.
