no it wasnt pretty, in fact it was ugly....but to expect anything more with a 3rd stringer making first start on the road in Philly and come away with a win,......unless you are part of the "we needed to lose for better draft position group" this should be an acceptable win

special teams played ok..minus the missed FG, and the defense had what 6 sacks?....2 ints.....and a ware TD.....and held for the most part, in fact sealed the game today and our 3rd string QB made the plays that counted at the end

No. I started the day expecting a win. We got it. I was happy we won, just not overly impressed with anything. I mean how happy can you be ending the season like this?

There's no reason we should have lost that game today. We won. We did what was expected. If we lost, it would have been 2 weeks of embarassment in a row. Only this time against backups.

The AZ game was only embarrassing because of the easy Pick-sixes. Man, those were easy!

Re PHI: how easy do you think it is to win a game with a third-string QB? On the road? That's more impressive in my book than losing with your backups. Especially when your backup QB was your regular season starter earlier in the year.

It was embarassing because we lost. Im not in the business of making excuses for why we didn't win. We lost.. to a team we are better than.

As for Philly.. we may have had our 3rd string QB, but we also had our starting units in there, playing against a 2nd string QB and a team of backups and 3rd stringers. I'd say we were pretty much expected to win that. At least i would hope we were.

Sadly most of our INT's were shams. They were less the result of our DB's going and making a play, and more the result of getting a gift thrown right into their hands.

That's how a lot of INTs are. I don't know why people don't get this.

I didn't mean to imply you were making excuses, just stating my belief that when you lose, there's no excuse, and it was embarassing. The loss itself, not even considering the way we lost, although that definately added to the embarassment, throwing two pick six's and missing an extra point.

Again, if you ask anyone if a team of mostly starters will beat a team of mostly backups and 3rd stringers any given week in the NFL, most people with common sense would expect the team of mostly starters to win. Certainly i expected under Garrett that we would be able to beat a team of backups and 3rd stringers.

..and we did. So i was happy. Again, just not overly impressed with the way we did it. A win is a win though. You take it and move on and figure out what you can do better next time.. or next season. There's certainly plenty to look over.

I agree with the handful here that the majority of INTs are simply players making a play when it's pretty much handed to them.

You have players make great plays on a ball, it happens, but by and large INTs are the result of a poor decision by a QB that a DB takes advantage of.


I don't get, however, how we have some posters on here who always seem to be negative about EVERYTHING and pretty much every post they have is to knock a player, a game, whatever.

If being a fan makes you that miserable then, seriously, why be a fan?

Hey, interceptions and fumbles occur, but do not ever expect them to happen. Make your own luck as best you can, and be happy as a kid on Xmas when you get the break. It seems like people almost DEMAND that we should be getting them no matter what, and don't see the random events that have to transpire to get things to break your way for the turnover. Enjoy them when you get them, but don't expect a game changing interception, sack, or fumble recovery on every third series.

It's like walking in on your girlfriend laying in bed with only her best lingerie on, a copy of Cosmo with their "300 things you should try in bed" issue, and realizing your wife won't be home for hours.

One thing is for sure. Since the promotion of Jason Garrett to head coach and Paul Pasqualoni to DC, the turnover ration has gone strongly in favor of Dallas. Although this didn't turn around a whole defense going South, it did help to add dedication and desire to a group that had already been grounded on shallow waters.

To your advantage, I have to admit that for the first eight games of this season...and before Jason Garrett became Inerim, that this was the rock bottom of disappointments for the franchise. I don't question at least half of this season't utter futility when compared to expectations.

Almost every INT Samuel and D.Hall had were thrown straight to them as well. Thats just how it works. Im happy that we at least caught the ball on defense this year, would have loved to break more big plays out of it.

I am pretty sure McCann has more return yardage on his one pick then the rest of our team had put together.

I love the Cowboys, loving watching them win, and hate to watch them lose but it doesn't screw with the rest of my life or make me so miserable that all I do is post nothing but negativity all the time.


Unfortunately we have people here who it clearly does bother them in those ways and that's just really silly. To get that worked up, and miserable, over something you have absolutely zero say in the outcome of? Just dumb, IMO.


But, no, I agree that most probably aren't happy, or satisfied, with the way this season went. And they shouldn't be. I'm disappointed in the way the year went and I certainly want to see better next year.

But i'm not going to be miserable, or lose sleep, over that for the next 7 or 8 months either.

There are very few CBs that make more plays then they give up. VERY FEW. The more agressive you are the more you give up.
