Where many will be surprised if Rico contributes this year. I'll be surprised if he doesn't. He should at least get some snaps and make the 53. Maybe not always active.

Basketball players are more skilled athletes. If he wants it and isn't afraid of contact he'll be able to do it.

Rico is on the 53. Hanna or Swaim will be gone

What is he 6'8 280? All I know is he's being doing everything he's been asked to do and than some. When you got a guy who wants to practice as an offense lineman to improve his blocking that's impressive..good news is when he was running scout team. Tony Romo loved throwing to him and our defense couldn't cover him at all
6'6" 290

Dallas needs a capable 3rd TE in this system, I think Switzer takes one of the 5 WR spots. They are both JAGs but are capable blockers and Dallas needs that.
Can't remember his name right now, but that TE we got in udfa, according to another poster, looks to be exactly what we need if he works out

Swaim is a Witten-in-progress; he's no twinkle-toes, but blocking has been good and he's a hard worker.

Hanna also is a baller, with more speed, better hands, but less successful as a blocker just due to size. He's really more like a bigger slower WR.

If they're both healthy (and they've had plenty of recovery time), I think it will come down to system fit, and the 'Boys have never quite figured out how to use a smaller TE (Escobar).

Remember, Rico is 6'8", 280#, a monster who can move and jump, and has the tools to block. He's gotta be the future, and the coaches are beaming about his progress.

So, I'd guess that we'll stick with system fit, and keep Swaim over Hanna.
Good post.

Also read that they worked Rico in at tackle in practice most likely to refine his blocking skills. Like you said, I do believe he is the future but we will see. And yeah swaim over Hanna

Can the term JAG be filtered...so over used and over hyped, just like the person that started it, Parcells...LOL...

Strange we haven't heard any updates on Swaim and Hanna. Some reporter needs to ask.
With Swaim and his recent broken foot. here is my current thoughts.

Swaim, with the broken foot will start TC on PUP, gives him extra time to heal.
Hanna, may also, but if he is not ready by now, he's done. So that opens up the roster for Gathers to make the team for sure.

Witten, Gathers, Swaim will be the 3 TE's once Swaim returns. I don't see them keeping 4 TE's.

This is what I think happens, too. Though Hanna coming back healthy makes things really interesting at TE.

Someone let me know where there is any shred of positive news on Hanna coming off of microfracture knee surgery.

Until then, he's a non-factor for me and someone I no longer consider a member of this team.

Barring injury, Witten, Swaim, and Rico are going to make the roster. Hanna is battling the FB for that final roster position.
