This kid is blue collar to the core. He was my favorite day 3 pick last year. A UT beat writer told me he's the one guy on the team you want by your side in an alley fight. Although he transferred into the UT program, he quickly developed a rep as an enforcer in the locker room. Re-watching the game, his blocking has improved a lot. My guess is a year in the strength program has helped him a lot. I know the drops were ugly, but I think nerves played into it b/c he's a Cali kid who probably had a lot of friends/family watching him play. I believe the rave reviews from camp. I bet he plays better and earns a spot on the 53. I wonder if they'll keep 4 tight ends...

I hope so, because Hanna is still on PUP, Traylor will be the guy if not. As Gathers is pure PS material right now.

He's definitely going to make the team, I agree.

I like Traylor, too, for what little I've been able to see of him in camp. He might be a better PS candidate than Gathers when it's all said and done.

All I know for sure is that Swaim had better start catching the ball in live action if he wants to be utilized as a receiver. He's drawn praise for doing so in TC and that's always good to hear but he'd best be sure to wait for the ball to hit his hands in games before looking downfield.

There's time left for him to turn things around but every time he drops one, it invites a lesser likelihood of being targeted in the future. Nerves played a role in his drops for sure but he'll need to learn to relax and concentrate, despite the pressure. Here's hoping he can and will.

I think he'll probably be retained this year but it'd be great to see him extend his role to being a receiver, as well as a blocker, going forward.

Most likely will make the team, unless he keeps showing he can't catch the football throughout the preseason. The thing is it's not like he has stone hands, he made a really nice catch later in the game. Swaim just was too focused on getting yards after the catch instead of worrying about securing the catch first. Both drops hit his hands as he starts to look downfield.

We should trade Hanna for a SS. We don't use him anyway. Trade Mcfadden for a MLB. Trade Leary for a DE.

Doesn't work like that.

You could get a 7th for Hanna, a 5th for McFadden, and a 3rd or 4th for Leary.

Swaim is going to be interesting. He did bozo the two catches although Dak kind of rifled that first one....maybe a little excitement for the rookie, but he did make the tougher catch later and had worked himself wide open for what should have been a TD on the 4th and 1. He seems to do everything decently and I think the drops were a fluke. I definitely think he will respond appropriately.

We definitely do need a S, a LB and a DE, whatever way we can get them. I could see trading McFadden because Jackson at least looks somewhat capable. Our OL depth is rough so I just don't think we can trade our best reserve unless we can get something quality for him. Hanna is hard to trade because he has been dealing with injuries, plus Escobar is still a question mark.

I doubt you'd get any of that......I'd probably say a 6th for McFadden and Hanna for a 7th sounds about right. Leary for a 5th rounder.

You can get much more for Leary just because teams will compete to trade for him. Supply and demand.

McFadden would be worth more if a good team loses a big name guy, and has no legit backup.

He's not a natural hands catcher though...and I'm not seeing the "great blocker" everyone is raving about. But then again..If they are comparing him to Witten and Escobar...then sure he's gonna look all world. But I think we can do better.
