Swapping with Detroit?

To feed my draft addiction I read several different teams forums and blogs and found one interesting tidbit from a Lions draft forum. Most of the fans there have their hearts set on Prince. They know that it will most likely require them to trade up and Dallas seems to look like their best trade partner.

Many fans said they would be willing to part with their 3rd rounder to obtain Prince. Would you be willing to accept that offer from Detroit?

I think I'd prefer to draft Amukamara ourselves, unless the Lions offer is too sweet to pass up.

If Prince is available to 9 he better be the pick. No way we give him to Detroit.

Prince >>>>>>>>>> Peterson.

It's like comparing Antrel Rolle to Revis. Lets not get silly now.

Uh, what? Please tell me you are complementing Peterson and not what I think you are saying.

:lmao: Read what I said. Does it sound like I'm complementing Peterson?

If you can name me a 220 pound CB, I'll take it back. Actually, a 230 pound CB. He'll struggle at corner switch to safety and struggle there even more.

What has he done to prove he will struggle at corner, let alone safety?

He's at 230 now?

I like Prince, but there's no reason to try and put down Peterson to prop up Prince. I think they are both excellent prospects.

Well, the fact that he relies purely on athleticism rather then proper technique should just about do it. He got away with it in college, I'd love to see him try that in the pros. Also, can you really picture a 230 pound CB? No way.

No, he's 220. You don't think he'll gain ANY weight when he sees an NFL weight room?

And I'm not "trying" to put down anybody.

Not neccesairly. NFL weight programs are rarely about gaining or losing weight, but instead preparing the body for a full season to avoid injury.

Trading down and losing a blue chip player (in the top 10) is not smart business, and it is not how a winning organization operates.

There are good players in the third round, but Robert Brewster, Jason Williams (probably over drafted), James Marten, Jason Hatcher (taken one round too early), and Derek Ross live there, too.

Personally, I want Tyron Smith, so I'm not going to get cute over adding an inferior player in round 3. You could end up with two inferior players and lose Smith. Smith is a blue chip, cornerstone player, and he lives in the offensive line. Dallas' offensive line is hurting and old.

You know what IS funny though, is that before the combine he had said he'd show up at 212 and run a 4.2, he did neither.

I had completely forgotten about his promise to show up at 212 till just now, probably could have ran a 4.2 if he had lost the weight too.

I agree with you about Smith. I like him but if we could trade down, get him and get a a 3rd, I am all for it. The one team that I would be weary of is the Vikings. They need offensive line help also from what I heard. If they pick Smith before us than I would trade down again and try to get Carmi or Sherrod.

I think the Vikings need to get a QB pretty early. With both Newton and Gabbert gone (let's assume, anyway), they may try to trade back or take Ponder, Mallet, or Locker. I don't think the Vikings will be able to get a quality QB with their 2nd rounder. A lot of the guys will already be gone, imo.

But you're right, if we trade back and they take Smith, I would try to trade back again and take either Carimi or Sherrod.

it's funny because if you read some of the comments on that thread they seem to love Prince the way most of us love PP. they also like moffit a 4th round mock favorite on this board :p:

You have to keep in mind they draft 14th, not 9th.

To them it's a dream Prince is there for pick 14, to us it's a dream Peterson is there Pick 9.
