Swapping with Detroit?

If Peterson is off the board, I would love a trade down to 13 or 14.

Will Tyron be there at those spots?

Yes trade back to 13 and let prince go to the Lions at 9. Prince will fit in great at Detriot and the defense they run. I'm not high on Prince in Dallas though. Dallas Scheme doesn't fit Prince.

Then at 13 I think you can trade back to 17 with NE or 18 with SD. Both are 34 teams that need 34 DE or LB. SD is know to trade up.

We can get an added 3rd pick with the trade from Detriot and a extra 2nd from SD to move back to 18. I think Tyron Smith will still be there at 18. Looking at the teams from 13-18 I don't see any team that will take him before 18. If they do then we can still get Carimi, Sherrod, or Castanzo at 18.

18th Tyron Smith
40th Brandon Harris
50th Marcus Cannon
71st Kendirck Ellis or Jarvis Jenkins
75th William Rackley
4th Kelvin Sheppard
5th Ian Williams or Cedric Thorton
6th Chris Nield or Henry Hynoski(If Dallas gets Williams in 5 they go Hynoski)
7th DeMarcus Van Dyke
7th Anthony Gray

All depends on the 3rd round. That will affect the 5th and 6th. If Dallas gets Jenkins then I think they gor Williams in the 5th and Hynoski in the 6th. But if they go Ellis in the 3rd then I think Thornton in the 5th and Nield in the 6th. I like Hynoski ugly style but I don't think Garrett does but I'm putting him in anyways. I liek all these guys but we only have so many picks.

Trading down and losing a blue chip player (in the top 10) is not smart business, and it is not how a winning organization operates.

There are good players in the third round, but Robert Brewster, Jason Williams (probably over drafted), James Marten, Jason Hatcher (taken one round too early), and Derek Ross live there, too.

Personally, I want Tyron Smith, so I'm not going to get cute over adding an inferior player in round 3. You could end up with two inferior players and lose Smith. Smith is a blue chip, cornerstone player, and he lives in the offensive line. Dallas' offensive line is hurting and old.

Detroit is the first team who should be looking at OT in the 1st round. If Detroit wants to trade up to get Prince at #9, then we can pick up an extra 3rd rounder and STILL get Tyron Smith. Houston, Minnesota and Washington won't take him.

I would consider a trade down. I think our needs are at OL, DL, DB, LB and ST. Good players will be available at all of those positions lower in the 1st round or in the 2nd and 3rd. Yes, I think that is the wise choice.

I think only 2 teams will take a OT before 19 and thats Dallas and Detriot. Detriot likes Prince and if they trade up with us to get infront of Houston then I don't see any one taking Smith until 19 if we pass on him.

I can definitely see New England taking Smith at 16. Teams like the Giants and Eagles could also start to trade up into the teens to get Smith. Philly certainly has the firepower to do so. I wouldn't get cute. Trading back to 13 would be enough for me.

OK then we get Carimi, Sherrod, or Castanzo. I'm not sold on Smith like others. I don't think he is ready to start right away. You can talk all you want about his potential and upside but we need a RT now. I would be just fine with any of these OTs. I would rather add the extra pick and get a another good player than to stay put and take Smith. Smith has never played LT, has technique issues, not great with assignments, only 20 years old, and not enough experence to warrent a high pick IMO.

The Patriots will not take Smith IMO, because they wouldn't trust him at LT or protecting Brady's blind side. The Giants and Eagles may but I'm ok with that. Smith doesn't scare me. I think Ware could take care of him no problem.

So you don't think Smith is ready to start at RT because he's never played LT before? Smith has only played right tackle and he is a guaranteed upgrade over Colombo and will eventually be the LT for this team. Carimi, Sherrod and Castonzo were left tackles. How do we know they can transition to RT?

Most Scouting Reports I have read say that he will not be ready to start day 1. Most say that he needs to gain lower body strength.

Smith isn't ready because he has some real problems with strength and technique, in my opinion. He's going to see PLENTY of both in the NFL.

One day he may be a good or even great player, but I am really surprised people think he's there already. I don't see it.

From the film I've seen on Smith, he's not ready to start at RT. LT is a dream right now. A healthy Colombo can survive a roster test from Smith. However, I'd rather have Smith as a swing tackle than what's on the roster currently. I'm still looking to FA (if there is one) to bring in more competition at RT and RG.

Off topic, but if they can get Davis into shape and to lose some weight then he will be fine at RG this year. We still need to plan for the future on the OL.

No I don't think he is ready to start in the NFL at RT because he only has 2 years experence in the Pac 10. If you can play LT then you should be able to play RT. Smith might be an upgrade over COlombo but so is Carimi, Castanzo, and Sherrod.

prince and his zero int's will fit in perfectly with what campo is trying to do.

Amukamara had five in 2009. Jimmy Smith didn't have any interceptions in 2010 either, had two in 2009. Brandon Harris had only one interception in 2010 and two in 2009. Patrick Peterson had 4 interceptions in 2010, but only two in 2009.

I would want Prince if I was Detroit too. I am hoping we are smart enough to take the guy ourselves at number 9 - we need him.

..........NO other player has such wide ranging opinions by fans on this board than Prince. That said, we should take Smith as the oline is a MESS. Guys: a CB like Revis can be had with a low first but somehow Prince is worth a top ten pick? Sorry, just don't buy it. He's pretty good, but doesn't warrant a top ten overall pick: no way.

We need OL more than CB
