LOL...yes. You actually had to work at it, though. Use NFL magazines to pick players and look up their stat lines in newspapers and such.

Remember playing with my step dad way back when. I was only 13 so I didn't take it all that seriously.

Yep. USA Today had good stats in their Monday sports page.

Beat the Commanders and the Eagles?

Eminently plausible.

Nothing's guaranteed, but I'm willing to go down with the ship to the bitter end.

I'm ready to talk some real trash with my buddies (all from the East Coast) through the whole off-season.

I truly believe they have what it takes to get the job done. I guess we'll see...

Man, I remember before the internet having to go to the local gas station to pick up my newspapers- Dallas' two rags and San Antonio's two rags to get my sports fix.

Every day.

The cute girl behind the counter used to flirt with me shamelessly, but I knew her boyfriend and he was a real psycho so I never reciprocated.

Those were darn good times.

Two bucks- every day. Money well spent back then.

Weird that the 1998 Cowboys are one of only two teams to ever do it, and none of the other teams did it. I believe that should have been an 8-0 special as well. An impressive feat by an otherwise fairly rotten team.

I think it's very possible. I'm confident that we can beat skins and we are at home against the eagles, it will be a hard fought game but we come out on top. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. :p

The world is a different place today for sure. Seems like a long time ago.

Before the fantasy draft I would go buy all the football magazines and go thru them. Guys would come to the draft with all their magazines and stat sheets they had made.

On Monday mornings I would take my wife to the metro early so I could get the papers and go thru the stats. I was always the first guy to call our league commish to make moves because I was first to get the paper. It was a lot of work and time to do well.

If I remember correctly the NFC east that year was like this year; no good teams. We were on the long downslope as the O line was falling apart as was the D. Irvin was gone and Jerruh was still dreaming of one more SB. Remarkable that we beat every NFC East team twice but could not beat ANYONE outside of the division.

Irvin didn't get put out until 1999 if I recall correctly. He was still there in 1998.

Right, he suffered his injury in the first game in '99, did he not?

But I remember his injury happening against the Eagles? And the Eagles fans cheered the injury. I don't remember anymore.

Against the Eagles yes. But it was the 4th game. Dallas went into the game 3-0. It all went downhill from there.

The NFC East has only been swept twice. In 2004 by the Eagles. In 1998 by the Cowboys. The one by the Cowboys was 8 games as the Cardinals were still in the Division.

The Cardinals beat them in the playoffs that year. Bittersweet.

Oh yeah, and I think that was the Cardinals first playoff win in..... history or something like that. Go figure.

Yes It was. It was the beginning of the Cowboys mortality/mediocrity we see today.

You could make that statement about the playoff loss to Carolina. Although we were more competitive in the Carolina loss.

I think we need to sweep , if we want to be competitive in play offs, beating NFCE rivals back to back will help a a long way . Even better if we run through the 4 games undefeated ....

I'd rather not play the Carolina Panthers or the New Orleans Saints in the wildcard round. So if that can be avoided by winning the final game, I say play the starters.

LOL who do you want to play? I actually want to see the Panthers. Out of all the contenders they probably have the worst offense.

That was a big upset. That was the very beginning of all of this mess. If you would have said to me then that the Cowboys would be .500 from then till now I would have called you crazy.
