I have heard several explainations of the call today and now it makes sense.

Before the ball went out of bounds it was touched by a Memphis player. Therefore the clock should have started and ran until it touched something or someone out of bounds.

That is the rule. It was a good call.

I agree

However, you cannot tell me that from the time it touched the guys hand to the time it hit the scorer's table that 1.1 seconds passed. I've watched it on TIVO several times and gotten between .3 and .5 seconds each time.

If the ball is knocked up in to the air before it hits out of bounds time should still come off. I'm not saying the amount of time couldn't be wrong just that the call was correct to take time off the clock.

It was a great game and both teams played their hearts out. We just happen to come out on top.

Sure he can tell you that...if he wants.

Does not mean it is right, but he can tell you that if he wants.

Either way money says that even if they had 2.9 or 3.0 on the clock they still would not have made the shot.

Moot point now the better team won.

The radio announcers said that the refs were watching the replay and had a stop watch in hand to try and determine how much time ran off the clock.

Yes I saw that on the TV last night.

They were watching the replay and one ref did have a stopwatch right there.

You don't know whether they would have made the shot or not. The time difference may have meant the difference between a desperation 3 point attempt and running a set play. MY money would have been on Acie Law making a shot to win the game if they had had the time.

Maybe the better team won, maybe it didn't. Don't matter now. Memphis moves on, A&M doesn't.

I still agree that Acie's missed layup (one replay looked like he was fouled on that play, too) and the fact they couldn't get one of those rebounds (and then have Sloan get called for a really ticky tack foul) cost them the game more than the last play.
