Swimming Pool Experts Needed!!

We just closed on a house and are having trouble with the spa.

Every night, the spa seemingly empties into the pool (when the spa pump and pool pump are not running) and then in the mornings/afternoon, it refills itself.

How can I get this to stop and just stay in the spa? haha

First time home buyer, and first time having a pool.

We had a guy come out and install a new check valve and change a bunch of O rings on the equipment but it hasnt seemed to do anything.

Also, I wonder if you could just plug your main drain (in the spa)? That may fix the problem.

I suspect it's something to do with the main drain as it appears from the picture the water line is well below the intake and all jets.

Thanks for the reply. Check valve was just replaced. Will watch the rest of video now..

True, and he probably doesn't need the main drain active in the SPA as the filtering would be handled by the skimmer return to the filter. Would be an easy fix.

If when your equipment is running and the spa overflows into the pool, a valve is open. Maybe just slightly open. When the equipment is off, it will drain through the valve, back into the pool. Maybe a valve is shot, and water is leaking past it when the equipment is off, and the valve is closed?

I saw in a pool forum that it could be the valve actuator as well. But i dont see anything like they were talking about in my equipment.

Yah the actuator, is a motor, that opens and closes the valves, usually with a control panel, and is preset like spa mode will move the valves, so that the spa, is running through the filter/heater, only.

The water is leaking back into your pool, so I am pretty sure it is an open valve, even slightly open, or a valve is not sealing completely.

Thanks. I'll double check all of the valves, and will be buying new o rings to replace on all of the jandy valves.

Just had the same problem with my pool and it was the check valve. Replacing the valve solved the problem.

Wish that was mine. Going to be replacing all of the o rings here monday. I dont even know if I have an actuator valve to replace lol.

The O rings stop air from getting into the system, bad O rings typically don't cause leaks, and if they do, it won't leak while the system is running. Will fill with air though

I'm not 100% sure it is. But the guy we had out to clean our pool filters and install that check valve (something i now know I could have done myself after watching youtube vids) said thats the most likely scenario as well.
