It appears the Cowboys will stretch out their kicker competition throughout camp. Hajrullahu appears the favorite at the moment to win the job, but might be 1 of those trades prior to cutdown. We just need a kicker who can be consistent on extra points and making his kicks inside 45 yards. Easier said then done.

I believe the Cowboys are high on several of their younger receivers, but also would like to add a veteran to the group at some point. Question is, are there any fa receivers they like and at what cost? Could we see a lesser trade for one?

Wally appears done for the preseason with a injured shoulder, probably looks like a redshirt yr coming. Reports suggests Josh Ball play has been up and down thus far early in camp. They are going to protect Tyron in the preseason games and throw Ball into the fire, if he struggles, they will sign a veteran to fill the role.
Kicker:
- They're definitely going to sign a veteran kicker unless one of the two in camp suddenly look good in preseason games.
= There will be about 32 kickers available between now and the cut day.

Swing Tackle: Josh Ball is getting good reviews.

WR: I don't know if they want a veteran. Some young players were out-performing Washington anyway.

False, He was good at RT. He managed at LT but never looked comfortable there.

They started Steele at RT in 2 games that La'el was active.

Looking back at the sequence of events, it appears they were going to bench La'el.
- However, Tyron got injured putting Steele at LT and La'el at RT.
- Even after Tyron was out the first time, when he returned they played Steele over La'el.
- The Tyron missed more games and they kept La'el at RT because they wanted Steele to focus on LT.
- i.e. They expected Tyron to go out again and wanted Steele ready at LT.

Have you seen video of Steele struggling in camp? I think most of this concept came from 1 media person saying that Steele was struggling.
- Another media person laughed about that and said, yes, vs Micah Parsons he struggled...Everybody struggles vs Parsons.
Collins was better in run blocking. Steele had 8 penalties last season. Im not very confident in steele I think he and biadasz are the weak links.

Kicker heck yah. This is the #1 issue for me.

WR I am not worried about. Now if Gallup was out the season, sure. Washington isnt even out for the season.

Tackle is also an issue for me. From what we have seen I think we need go out and sign the best tackle on the street. To not only compete with Steele, but provide depth there.

To me I see big improvement with Tyler Smith over Williams, and I think Biadasz will improve the center position in his 3rd season. Its the RT spot that for me is now the weak part of the line.

I was listening to stats on Zuerline this morning who was ranked 29th in fg kicking percentage. He missed 6 kicks and 6 extra points. 7-9 from 40-49 and 2-5 from beyond 50 and he missed 1 from 30-39. I know he single handely cost us the Bucs game but in looking at the rest of the league 29th sounds bad but its isnt missing alot. Not saying bring him back what I am saying is that its such an importANT JOB and every point matters. It must feel good to be the baltimore Ravens. Id have to look back and see what baily was doing when he went through his struggles here but I think he was the last time I felt good about a kicker

I loved the days when I didn’t even watch the extra point kick lol
There aren’t many really consistent kickers in the league. Lots of guys missed extra points last year
The Ravens do have a blessing at kicker for sure
But kickers are strange creatures. They can go off the rails so easily. It’s such a mental game for them
I liked who we brought in though they didn’t have much experience but they sure are missing a lot
Hopefully it gets worked out and a kicker can cost you a game. But you just need a guy who makes the extra points and is solid under 50 because very few are consistent over 50 so it’s nice to have one but not likely you will get one
To me what ran me crazy on Greg was missing extra points and easy FG, the long shots didn’t bother me so much because you can’t expect a guy to nail 50 yard plus FG every week
And to be honest many of those type of kicks shouldn’t even be tried. Unless it 4th and long I’d be going for more of those than kicking

Although positive reports coming out of camp, expect some growing pains out of Tyler Smith. Agree, Kicker is the most pressing, then depth at Tackle, with WR need being the least pressing due to Gallup's eventual return.

We all know that the Jones' will wait to see what kickers get cut after training camp and then bring them in to miss PAT'S and chip shots for the rest of the year

What's news to the Cowboys was abundantly obvious back in April to most of us when the problems should have been addressed. But, that is modern era Cowboy football............ always slow to assess and address.

I agree, our kicker is probably not on our current roster. Either a waiver pickup or a late rd trade coming.

Heard mixed reviews about Josh Ball. Think his play in the games will determine if he wins that role or they bring in a veteran.

Receiver is a need, where the fa market isn't great, along with some of their younger prospects performing well. Kind of like Ball, let's see how these players perform under the lights in real game action.

Yes, in the long-run, but he is just 20 years old and needs work on his technique. Should be good against power, but may struggle against quickness early on.

Either way it’s better than Williams. Especially in the run game.

We had terrible kickers the last few years and still were one of the top scoring offenses. They need a kicker who can make the ones they are suppose to make and will be fine.
Lol nah.
If your season comes down to having to make 50 yard FG then you aren’t going anywhere
If a guy makes 50% of kicks over 50 yards that’s really good
watch the playoffs the past few years and tell me a kicker that can make 50 yard fgs isn’t more important than ever. Saying all that matters is the ‘40 and under ones’ ones is completely off base (which is what the poster said)

Well, going by the Denver game we know Steele can't play left tackle. So maybe he'll be better at RT. My confidence in this is

A power house type of an offensive line is always a must. We don't have that right now, so that's our biggest need.
