Broaddus mentioned on lunch break today that with personnel from
Draft and UDFA that it looks like Dallas will be running more 4-3 packages

I don't think you would ever want to completely switch to a 4-3 when you have Demarcus Ware on your team but im sure Dallas wants to do more things out of the 4-3.

I think Rob Ryan wants to be as dynamic as possible but can our defenders grasp all of it?

It's occurred to me that this is another reason why they do not have a 330lb NT on the roster so that they are more flexible for 4-3 sets.

Yeah I've been saying this for a few months seeing the LBs they have drafted and target, it looks like they will move more and more towards a 4-3. But Ryan likes to run both.

The Cowboys ran a lot of 4-3 fronts last season as well. Rob Ryan runs a hybrid defense.

I just hope this shuts up all the people clamoring for a change back to the 4-3 now.

I think the pass rush would improve with 4 man front. Then can rotate the d lineman between Ratliff, lissemore, Brent in middle and ware, spencer, crawford and wilber at end

I believe that's what Jerry was referring to in his post draft press conference when he was talking about multiplicity and Jason Garrett touched on it too. 3-4 Might be our base defense but we already run a lot of 4--3 and other fronts. We were looking for players that could play in multiple fronts defensively.

We mostly line up in 4 man fronts in passing situations already.

Dallas lined up in four man fronts on passing downs the vast majority of the time last season anyway. 7 of Ware's sacks came with his hand in the ground.

Passing Downs they do not run 4-3 though, getting back to the OP. They do run a 4-man front, which generally has 2lbs and 5 DB's (known as the nickel) and sometimes they replace one of the LB's and only have Lee on the field with 6 DB's (known as the dime).

We'll see a 4-2-5 a majority of the time, then 3-4, then 4-3.

The only real questions are if Crawford sees more time at nickel end than Spencer does and who lines up inside.

I think they hope Carter can be one of the 2 but it wouldn't surprise me if we see Johnson there quite a bit.

Boy, I don't know what I'd do without you to clear things up for me. The "nickel" and "dime" you say?

:lmao:

The point was that those worrying about Ware playing with his hand in the ground or that we don't have the personel to run four man fronts are needlessly doing so.

I think you are more likely to see Crawford at DT in a 4 man front. He doesn't exactly have edge speed.

Not sure why who we got would make it look like Dallas will be running more 4-3.

We got a 3-4 end in Crawford and 3-4 OLBs in Wilber, Hamilton and possibly Whiteside.

Now, Crawford's size right now does look more like a 4-3 end (275 to 280), but I believe every indication is that he fits what you look for as a 3-4 end and is expected to bulk up.

Hatcher was 275 when he was drafted. Steelers have had a few 285 pound ends on their team also. Ravens wanted Crawford too.

When the Pats where winning SuperBowls they had a lot of flexibility on defense on the looks they gave offenses.

Seeing how you didn't know a slant route is not ran at 30 yards, I thought I would help explain nickel and dime. The question was not about Ware playing with his hand in the ground, it was about a 4-3 defense. Not surprised you missed that.

Again, leave up to the 30 Yard Slant to bring much needed humor to the board. Keep up the good work.:lmao2:

I am waiting for the day.

I think Ware would be the best DE in the league.
