First game of the year, first game of his career and he's been off for most of preseason due to hamstring injury. I would also be willing to bet he's still not up to snuff as a run blocker.

So you want to go with Beasley and Butler who are more trustworthy and Butler in particular is an excellent blocker. We wanted to run the ball effectively and if you put Switzer in it probably tips off we are going to pass.

You can't do that. If you simulate the end of a play, you've given yourself up.

They need to outlaw the fake spike play for that reason. If a QB can legally commit grounding to stop the clock, then the defense shouldn't have to defend a fake of that play.
