The coaching staff needs to really go.

The Front Office tries so hard now to get by with cheap players that they are set to get as much from guys on their 1st contract then move on. That might partially work but the defensive drafting hasn't been great overall and you end up with Heath starting.

Some people make it sound like this team is one of the worst in the league.

They really aren't in a "must win" mode like fans, they just found a franchise QB and cleared cap while the defense got a lot younger. Blowing a ton of cap this off-season on mediocre FAs would have ruined the entire benefit of Daks contract.

The 2018 off-season is where most expected moves to be made. And this season is still far from over.

Here's a quote from Sturm's blog: (Hope I can post this?)

"Green Bay wins again, 35-31. They won in the playoffs, 34-31. The Rams won last week, 35-30. If you are wondering if the Cowboys offense can protect its defense, the answers here are pretty clear. In fact, thanks to football writer Scott Kacsmar we have this ominous statistic to chew on: Since 2010, the Cowboys are only 15-10 in home games in which they score at least 30 points. 10 losses is double that of any other team in the NFL over that span. The league wins 89% of the time over that span. New England is 40-2, Green Bay is 28-1, Denver is 24-2, and Seattle is 21-2. Basically, nobody ever loses home games win scoring 30 points besides the Jason Garrett-era Dallas Cowboys. They have lost 10 times in 25 chances."

So, we are 29% below the average.
Amazing.

Great post. A lot of our troubles right now can be directly linked to the off-season decisions made by the front office. That combined with a mediocre coaching staff that can't give us any advantage and we are in for another 8-8 season

The team needs more defensive talent and experience.

That's the long & short of it.

A team that cant find a way to upgrade Kyle Wilber year after year has become complacent beyond any serious will to improve.

Waiting for someone to chime in and tell me Wilber had a good game.....

Yeah Wilber should not be a lifer

I couldn't believe I saw #51 out there

Who said anything about blowing a ton of money on mediocre FAs?

And no one is saying this team is one of the worst in the league.

But this notion that this team had to take a huge step back from 13-3 to build for 2018 and 2019 is some of the most ridiculous front office/Garrett fanboiism I have ever seen.

The first "move" that should be made in 2018 is finding a new coaching staff. Anything other than that is like throwing money down a bottomless pit.

It's really not.

The team needs a new coaching staff too, or at the very least, a new defensive coordinator.

I believe Jason is done if doesn't put 9 victories on the board

Jerry maybe slow to recognize things but he usually figures these thing out eventually

Jerry knows what's at stake:
Daks development
Tyron Smiths health
The OL as a whole
Zeke's prime( Emmitt only had 5 great years. The rest was window dressing)
A defense that just hasn't come along in anyway

Don't sell Jerry short when it comes to recognizing what needs to be done.

You have more faith than I.

Garrett is essentially a member of the Jones family. I think its going to take something beyond painfully obvious for Jerry to act. We won't reach that point any time soon unfortunately.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Jason Garrett needs superior talent across-the-board in order to get to the NFC Championship or even the Super Bowl. He doesn't give us a coaching edge, and that's why in games we really need coaching, we come up short.

I had confidence in him earlier in his career. Not anymore.

You're too emotional to even see logic, and now you're just putting words in people's mouths.

Have fun with that. Try not to hurt yourself.
