..."While no receiver caught more touchdown passes, Owens also had an inordinate amount of drops. And for that, Owens only had one excuse.

"It was just a lack of concentration on my part," he said. "I wanted to be a little more productive for this team, but it didn't happen. Sometimes that can make the difference between wins and losses. I can't really put my finger on it, but I just know it wasn't the best."

understandable, TO is a catch and run type of receiver, many a times I caught him looking up field before securing the football

Just goes to show that the pros make the same basic mistakes as school kids playing a makeup sandlot game, they're just bigger, stronger, faster and richer.

First, catch the ball 'cause if you don't, it doesn't matter what upfield looks like. It's so easy to sit here and say that but it's quite another thing during the excitement and adrenalin rush of the moment - especially if you are focusing on yourself instead of the ball. A million things flash through your mind in the instants (that seem like eternities) as you watch the ball and wait for it to arrive.

I hope that this year he focuses on the ball and not be distracted by thoughts about what he will look like catching it and the glory he will get for it. This year I hope he can concentrate on the ball instead of himself or whatever distracts him. It's hard to do but that's what he gets paid big money to do.

At least he being honest about it and hopefully he stay more focused on his own job. Especially when we face Philly, that game is not about TO vs the Eagles

TO is going to go off this year...he truely knows that he didnt do a good job last year all the time...he also has a chip on his shoulder to show Parcells that he should have invested more time in him...on and off the field...parcells didnt even ask him how he was after the pill incident...you dont do that to one of your best players...you ride him till the wheels fall off which is what we are going to do this year...i say he gets to 95 catches and 1600 yards...16 TD's...its going to be the TO show this year...that is going to open up everything for us...

That evil evil Parcells.

You'd figure TO's 125 million reasons would have been enough inspiration.

That is not a freudian slip.
It's a metaphor.
But I appreciate your posting that assessment, however assinine athletes explain things.

He truly better. If hes worth a nickle this year, he'll redeem himself and prove me wrong. I hate the dude as much as anyone can and hate the fact hes on my team. But since hes on my team, the stupid 'player' better produce. His mouth wrote checks his body couldnt cash last year. But I'll give the devil his due if he goes all world and EARNS my respect. Wont like him any better then I do now, but I will admit he behaved himself last year and was a 'team player' in the loosest sense of the word. He had his moments last year where I knew I was right, but in the end, he did little damage to us. The bigger problem was he did little damage to them. If he rights the ship this year production wise, I will consider him not a bad deal anymore.

Actually, it is not a metaphor, as no comparison was made by Owens between tenor and vehicle.

And it is spelled "asinine."
