I answer your questions with .. yes .. yes .. yes.

I like Owens. I want him back.

I want Parcells back too but it would not break my heart if he doesn't come back.
I know we could do worse, but we could do better too.

As much as I like having Owens on our team though, it would make me nervous to have him and not have Parcells.

Believe me I wanted to answer YES to all three... but I do approach my posts with MORE of a TEAM approach than a TO bias approach. His drops at crucial times keeps him from a GREAT season IMO.

4th Down Giants
TD miss vs Skins
Dropped a pass against Seattle that would have been a first down...
Didnt see a ball coming his way against Seattle(or were these the same play) I dont remember

TO = good season with Cowboys, GREAT as a part of this COMPLETE offense

That's an excuse. You can't just count the total number of drops. You have to examine when he made those drops. There were several drops he made to kill drives and hurt our momentum.

How can you say we are not using him right if the ball hits him in the hands and he doesn't catch it, that's not the scheme. That's TO not focusing. And if we limit him to only slants, you think NFL defenses won't be able to find a solution to that?

Let me clarify my, use him right, statement. I don't think they used him right in most cases. I totally agree with ya that many of his drops were critical, and some were in "space". However, wouldn't you agree that TO was best everywhere else he has been when he could catch it AWAY from the line of scrimmage so he could not get crushed by a linebacker right away. I just have never seen TO take so many hits so close to the line before, and NO I didn't mean to imply that I want him running NOTHING but quick slants.

I couldn't agree with any statement more!!!

It's funny this point should be brought up. This is exactly the same routes he ran this year...

I'd take Parcells back in a heartbeat. I've never liked T.O. and still don't. I never will.

I expect to have both men back next season.

I agree 100%. Jerry has what 10 mill in TO. What's another 3 mill to Jerry. That and the fact that with Terry Glenn's knee problem he aint cuttin' TO!

I want TO back. I won't make any bones about it.

He spent six games with Drew Bledsoe at the helm. Had one of his worst seasons and dropped too many balls. Played with numerous injuries throughout the year.

And he still led the league in touchdown catches and was among the leaders in catches and yards.

I'm willing to take the chance that, given a 16-game schedule with Romo and a healthy finger and familiarity with the offense (and, presumably better use of TO within that offense), that his play will only improve next season.

He can be a distraction. But no more a distraction than hearing our defensive players calling each other out late in December, wondering if our coach is ready to bail at any moment, etc.

EDIT: Lastly, TO's becoming less a story in this league. If you notice, people are slowly starting to lose interest in him. Just look at the Pro Bowl. I think come training camp next year, he won't be as big a story. I partially credit Parcells for that. TO is not bigger than this team. He's treated as just another guy. I think that's a good thing in the long haul.
