I don't like Mexican food. I hate it in fact. I hate almost all of the common ingredients in Mexican food. And, I have very sensitive tastes and am generally a very picky eater.

And of course, my wife is half Mexican (her dad is full blooded). Needless to say, she doesn't make any of my meals.

Interestingly enough, I have a co-worker who is Mexican and she doesn't really care much for Mexican food either.
I can't even fathom this madness.

You never should have gone to Taco Bell. It tainted your senses. It'll do that. It's garbage.

I've never had Taco Bell.

Sorry Hos, but that stuff in Arizona isn't real Mexican food either.

The Mexican food capital of the nation is down here in El Paso, TX.

And I'm not talking about Chicos, if anyone knows what that is.

There used to be a little hole in the wall restaurant/diner called the La Paloma that my family went to for Sunday dinner out (this was back in the mid 60s)... it looked like a dive, but it was always packed on Sundays, because the food was sooooo good...

Sniff... this thread is shattering a lot of my illusions...

To be semi-serious for a second, I actually like Taco Bell's new promotional item, their chicken flatbread sandwich... it's nicely spiced, not too hot, but not your typical chicken wrap either...

"my friends mom is the only one I will eat"

To much information!!

Seriously, just drive around East Dallas or Oak Cliff. Even places like Garland and Irving especially have a ton of little out of the way places to get some good Tex-Mex. There are over 1,000,000 people of Mexican descent in DFW. There's plenty of good Mexican here, high and low end. And sorry Arizona, not impressed with your Mexican food. Nowhere near the quantity and quality you find in Texas.

I can only eat Taco Bell half drunk. But yes, you dont buy their food, you rent it. ha

But yes I love truly authentic mex food. Theres a restaurant here in Beaumont that used to be an old gas station, that is awesome. No menu, and if you dont speak Spanish you have to point at what you want. No chips and salsa, no tacos, the only thing that looks like "Mexican" food is stuffed poblano peppers and well, tortillas.

What exactly is the definition of "Tex-Mex?" I see that all the time.

I assume it's watered down, mild Mexican food.

I live in Stamford, CT. Grew up in California. I haven't had good Mexican in 3 years since we moved here.

Good thing I make the best guacamole in the world.

f you live away from the Mexican border area and have never had anything but chain restaurant Mexican food you have no idea what you are missing. You need to come to Arizona and let me take you to any of the dozen or so family owned places I know of.

You can get authentic Mexican food in every state in the Union these days.

I personally love it. The only down side is these establishments are often in some of the poorer neighborhoods and look pretty shoddy from the outside. You just have to set aside some preconceived notions and give them a try.

Fajitas are Tex-Mex, not Mexican.

You must have had it as a baby and it tainted you. There is no other explanation for not liking Mexican food.
