True, and even now fans are still hating on on of the best CBs in the NFL.Exactly, prior to last year Byron Jones was a bust according to half the posters here.

What was he before he came to Dallas? Do more homework.
I don’t care if you’re “impressed” or not. If you think I’m going to cite every example to satisfy you, you grossly overestimate you own importance.
“Like” has nothing to do with it.
you failed miserably in defending your own statement.....if Charles Haley was a 3-4 OLB, and then moved to 4-3 DE...that makes one and your own statement was "it happens all the time" and yet you provided one example of a HOF defensive player... and you continue to dance around and seemingly just threw up your hands saying you are not going to come up with any other examples.
I don't feel important, neither claim to be...seemingly you are trying to make me important and I highly appreciate it...
you grossly overestimate your own intelligence
Here's the thing you continue to fail to understand. You tried - and failed - to claim that Ware struggled as a 4-3 DE, yet the guy had double digit sacks playing defensive end. I'm not "throwing my hands up", I'm telling you to do the homework you so clearly need. Especially after embarrassing yourself claiming Haley was a "4-3 DE". You let everyone know you don't know what you're talking about here.
This team has had no problem putting 3-4 OLB's at DE before, so it's no excuse for why they clearly blew their pick when they passed on Watt for Taco. Go look up Benson Mayowa, look up the scouting reports on 235 lb Randy Gregory, who they also had no problem lining up at defensive end.
Do some homework so you'll know more of what you're trying to speak on.
I don't have to. Unlike you, I know what I'm talking about here.
you are just too funny....when dallas switched to 4-3 Defense in 2013, Ware struggled to get to 6 sacks...and subsequently he went to Denver....and then switched back to 3-4 OLB....When you've got nothing, resort to that nonsense.

randy Gregory played 4-3 DE for Nebraska...... was a top 10 rated 4-3 DE coming out of college. dropped due to "pot" smoking......
Mayowa the guy with all of 13 career sacks.....in 6 years in the league...that's your guy!!! really
come on dude....you have decided you are going to hate on Taco...that's fine. doesn't matter. decided that TJ Watt was your boy and you are on a tirade to prove yourself right...
good for you
this is done..... I don't feel like arguing with the handicapped.... good luck to ya in whatever you decide to pursue...
Yet here YOU ARE arguing with him? Makes total sense...apparently you think he's important enough to argue with.
Nobody knows whether Taco is a bust yet or not, DEs take time to develop in the NFL...all of you constantly bagging on the guy are the same ones who said Lawrence was a bust, Smith wouldn't pan out, and that Byron was a total scrub, etc, etc....
You have no clue at all whatsoever what kind of career Taco will end up having.

Hey I know that GuyWo.....that Taco guy sucks Bro...
That always made zero sense to me. CB and Safety are different positions with slightly different requirements and skill sets and both take a few years to really get....so Byron was busting his butt learning two when everyone else got to focus on one. They finally stick him at one spot and surprise, no longer an issue.
Is that actually his given name? I can't believe I've gone this long without knowing his "government" name. Actually, considering he hasn't done anything to warrant being noticed, I can believe it.Its Vidaunte Charlton......Crappy players don't get to have nicknames like "taco"
For the record, Denver ran a 4-3 in 2014 when Ware signed with them. They didn’t switch to a 3-4 until 2015. Ware had 10 sacks as a DE in 2014you are just too funny....when dallas switched to 4-3 Defense in 2013, Ware struggled to get to 6 sacks...and subsequently he went to Denver....and then switched back to 3-4 OLB....

Hey I know that Guy
I sincerely believe that Taco Charlton was drafted in 2017 to replace DeMarcus Lawrence at LDE. When Charlton was drafted, Lawrence over his first 3 seasons, had missed 16 games games due to injury, and had only started 16 games, while playing in 16 others. He had only 9 sacks in those 32 games played over 3 seasons.
Charlton is not suited to play RDE. He doesn't have the body style, speed or skill set to be a weak side pass rusher going up against the top Left Tackles in the NFL. It is Charlton's bad luck that Lawrence had a breakout season in 2017, followed up by a really good 2018 season. So Charlton is doomed to be the backup to Lawrence, and unless there is an injury, Charlton is not going to get the chance in Dallas to prove his worth.
There was nothing wrong with the Cowboys using a late first round pick on a strong side DE in 2017. You don't typically get elite pass rushers in the bottom of the first round. So the Cowboys settled for a journeyman type player. But Lawrence has blown that up for Charlton. He's destined to be perceived as a bust in Dallas, even if he leaves and has a productive career for another team - kind of like Martellus Bennett, who was stuck behind Witten.
I still think Charlton was a reasonable pick, given the career path of Lawrence at the time the Cowboys made their 2017 first round selection. I choose to celebrate Lawrence finally achieving expectations rather than bemoan the failure of Charlton to beat him out. Lawrence was the 34th pick, while Charlton was the 28th pick. Not much difference, and Lawrence won the job. After Charlton's contract expires in 2020, I wish him luck with his next team.
The Cowboys need to determine who is the long-term solution at the more important position of RDE. Quinn is a good stop-gap solution, and I think he'll actually outperform Lawrence this coming season. It remains to be seen if Gregory will ever overcome his demons, but if he does, he's a good fit at RDE. So, it was worth the small extension the Cowboys gave him to lock him up for two more years, in case he finally reaches his potential. The option of resigning Quinn next year is also on the table. And there is the wildcard of Armstrong, and even Kerry Hyder, who surprised people with a good showing before his injury and coaching change in Detroit. The Cowboys have done enough to move the DE position out of the "NEED" column. They will need to revisit the situation next year.

People still believe this? Watt is bigger than randy Gregory. Stop making stuff upTJ Watt is a 3-4 OLB....he couldn't play 4-3 DE....that's why he is good in Pittsburgh...even Ware who was bigger, faster and nastier than Watt struggled at 4-3 DE and eventually moved on to Denver and back to his OLB position...... I still don't want watt...... never thought he was a fit....this has nothing to do with Taco being bad or the wrong pick....
playing the position, knowing how to play with your hands on the ground vs. stand up OLB are different. its not about size and speed only, otherwise any big sized defensive player with some speed would be successful at playing DE. would you move LVE to play DE? he is got speed? he has size? How about Smith? he has speed? he has size? he has quickness?People still believe this? Watt is bigger than randy Gregory. Stop making stuff up
