All these guys are highly rated because of the underwear olympics

Not really...Watt maybe, but Harris and Takk had mediocre days at best. Their 3 cone drills were borderline embarrassingly bad for smallish edge rushers. That's something NFL GM's will take notice of. What 6'6 277 lb Taco ran the 40 in I can promise you is meaningless to them.

He had a faster 10 yard time than Barnett while outweighing him by 18 pounds.

He has the longest arms (34-1/4") of the pass rusher projected to go around #28.

Taco
Wt: 277
10 yard: 1.63

Barnett
Wt: 259
10 yard: 1.69

Taco's 3-cone was better than Harris, McKinley and Lawson. and he outweighed them from 16 to 27 pounds.

I'm with you on team Taco but I'm seeing 1.7-1.73 for his 10 yard split. Is that his pro day # or something?

I'm not going to dismiss any of these ends at 28, If we end up with Taco and a bunch of fans on here get mad, that's just silly. We have no real idea how any of these pass rushers are going to turn out. He could end up being the best of the bunch.

I would think Derek Barnett and Hardy would be a better comparison. Taco with Greg Ellis maybe.

Blah blah blah. I see a typical six first round DE draft that yields one good, two ok, and three busts

This is the story of a guy many in the media have fallen love with but who could end up falling hard come draft day.

Charlton is a pass rusher who wreaked havoc on college offensive tackles during this past season at Michigan. He racked up 10 sacks in 2017 and is being projected by many analysts to go in the bottom half of the first round on Thursday.

But let’s be honest about what Charlton is and what he isn’t.

He isn’t a complete defensive end. He was often washed out of running plays by strong offensive tackles or pulling guards. He isn’t strong at the point of attack and doesn’t have a complete repertoire of pass-rushing moves. He’s also not a spectacular athlete, which was clearly seen by his underwhelming combine performance.

What he can do is get around the corner against slow-footed offensive tackles. He’s a one-trick pony, and he might not be very good at that one trick against NFL-level talent. There is just too much talent in this draft for this scribe to envision Charlton going any earlier than the middle of the second round.

I don't particularly like him as a right end, but I think he can be one of the best left ends in the draft. We like to pretend like we have a surplus of them, except for the fact that we moved a $10M defensive tackle to LDE because we didn't have anybody else. This was always a need. We didn't get the speed guy, but that's just how the board fell.

that's right PURPLE HALO he would be any better than Moore - Tapper - mayawo - Lawrence

a wasted pick IMO esp with Foster sitting there

A TE handles Taco, potential TFL turned into a small gain

Taco Charlton can blow up plays when he sees them developing, but that rarely happens.

Leveled on this play - turns into a big gain for Dalvin Cook

Doesn't put his length to use because he doesn't see the play develop or move with it. Should've been a loss of 3-5 yards

I do get the hype, because there are some plays where Taco looks like this coming off the edge. However

Cons: Charlton's tape is highly inconsistent. I don't believe his single year of productivity was as dominant as some made it out to be, and there were several sacks on which he was completely unblocked. In addition, Charlton doesn't necessarily show numbers in athletic testing that would indicate that he's a prime candidate to be a "raw athlete" type of choice. He came in under the 64th percentile for the three-cone drill, broad jump and vert. In addition, after skipping the Senior Bowl, Charlton ran a 4.92 40-yard dash in Indy, placing in the 27th percentile for defensive ends.

Purely as a 4-3 end, Charlton does "fit" for the. However, the question is whether or not he would be the best way to utilize resources. He would be a project, and even then he doesn't come with the athletic testing that would indicate a particularly high payoff. I do not believe that Charlton would be able to beat out William Hayes or Andre Branch for a starting job as a rookie -- to me, the Michigan DE is a second-round pick. A team could fall in love with him early, but I do not believe that his raw athletic ability or tape would pass the risk-reward test.
