Taco is improving

He got a sack only because Samaje Perine blocked the right tackle from blocking Taco. LOL

That's why a lot of tackles don't like running backs to help them. This actually happens quite often.

More like he pushed the OT into the chipping back. But thanks for continuing on your crusade to be a negative nancy.

In 12 games he looks a lot like what Randy did in 14.

Taco - 12 games, 0 starts, 10 solo tackles, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 pass defended, 1 stuff, 6 hurries.

Randy- 14 games, 0 starts, 15 solo tackles, 1 sack, 0 forced fumble, 0 pass defended, 1 stuff, 8 hurries.
One more stat you forgot:

Taco - no failed drug tests

Randy - multiple failed drug tests.

Off the field stuff matters too.

We still have a year of Irving (RFA) and D-Law (franchise maybe) to see what we have in them. By that time, Maliek Collins will be going into his contract year and we should have a better idea of what we have in him too. That'll probably be around the time when Taco has developed enough for us to tell whether or not he is someone we can build around.

All these guys will 'improve' if we dead/sign a real 1T DT

Lawrence has been a big surprise this year and not many saw it coming. So, there is hope for a rookie like Charlton.
Maybe due to injury history but prior to back injury his 2nd year he looked like a keeper. I saw him more as a greg Ellis DE, good run defender but a solid pass rushed and would benefit greatly from a dynamic pass rusher on the other side. What he is doing with a revolving door at the other end position is mine boggling. I guess Irving coming has helped a lot.

Taco just needs more time to develop, he has all the tools to play DE well in this system but as others have said he needs to refine his technique and spend time with the trainers building up that frame in the off season.

I will give him the time he needs, as long as he is working hard and staying out of trouble, all is good.

These flashes are a great sign and with more snaps I think Taco could surprise us in a good way on the field, time will tell!

was he playing against a starter quality OT?
not sure what the skins had left

He seems to get smacked around a bit due to lack of balance and footwork. Those are things he can improve upon.

At least twice last night, I saw him try to rush and he easily got taken to the ground because he quickly got off balance. On one, it looked like he made himself trip.

It was too soon to write him off as a bust like some have tried.
Off balance was an issue for him in college too. He made more plays after being on his knees than anyone I've seen.
