I can't see Curtis on this team. Backup Center concerns me. I won't lie.

I think center and TE are two positions that may be a bit in flux -- with TE I can see putting a couple guys on the PS if we have two FBs on the roster. But if a big blocking TE gets cut somewhere he may make the roster and displace Coleman. Keep in mind that there were a bunch of TEs taken on day 2 and teams may look to sneak them on their PS. I think Garrett will really look to get much more out of Witten -- that likely means reducing his blocking responsibilities considerably.

At Center, we've got a mess. Proctor shouldn't be counted on to do anything. He may surprise us but who knows. Luckily, backup centers get cut constantly. The Dolphins took 2 centers in the draft so I'd look for Rex Hadnot to possibly get the axe there.

Q. Butler probably makes it over Brown or Ball. Unless N. Jones does.

Q. Butler may be among the first cuts.

I think that you have it about right. There's not as much competition as in previous years, which shows this team is really maturing. Just looking at what you wrote, the number of quality #1 picks in the starting lineup on defense is staggering, and a testament to the turnaround we've had in drafting.

Just a few nits, I think Grammatica is our opening day kicker, and I have a gut feeling that Miles Austin doesn't make this team.

I agree that there won't be as much competition -- but I disagree that it reflects a maturing team -- I think there won't be as much competition b/c Jerry is running the show -- Bill made guys fight for their jobs, draft pick or not -- some of these late round guys are likely going to end up with a free pass onto the roster b/c Jerry hates to admit he made a bad pick.

I have a feeling on both subjects more than anything else.

I think Tyson Thompson is on the bubble and so is Austin Miles. I ended up sticking with Miles over Thompson strictly because of KR ability. I also think he'll try his hand at PR duties. I can't see Austin gone unless Stanback is amazing and so is Thompson (as a RB).

I can't stomach the 2 kickers thoughts, so I have to just have 1. I chose the guy who will pin the other team deep on every kickoff.

Nice idea but he'd likely be inactive on gameday

I flipped a coin between Battle and Coleman. No joke.

Who is Coleman? For the life of me I can't remember us signing another RB. Undrafted FA?

Very nice. We all know that's probably not how it ends up, because every offseason there is that sudden cut that nobody expected (A. Glenn, Flozell, and Ellis are all canidates for this), but none the less, I really like it. I hope Coartney Brown plays well enough to get some playing time as nickle corner over Aaron Glenn.

Just one question. You have Burnett starting in front of Ayodele? I like Burnett and I'd like to see him get more playing time, and I'd love to see him start. Has there been any indication that this might happen (I haven't read anything about the Boys except on this site lately) or is it just a feeling you've got?

RB: Thompson over Coleman - No way Coleman is NFL ready and he is only 205lbs!
K: Gramatica over Folk - Folk has serious accuracy issues and Marten has experience.

Where I'm not sure is:
Folk over Ball
Elam over Davis

I don't know why people are so convinced that Procter cannot play center. He was the backup center and top guard reserve in mini-camp (took over when Davis was gone). He's likely your game day guard/center backup.

Would everyone rather sign some scrub center off the street just because he may have played center in a game before?

A third TE will have to be found somewhere.

I think Coleman stands a good chance of making the squad. He was very productive in college.

I doubt Glymph makes the squad.

I think the team keeps 6 WRs and 9-10 offensive linemen.

Doubt they keep 2 FBs.

I am in with the Elam crowd. He is a younger, faster version of Keith Davis and will make him expendable this year.

Julius Jones, 211 lbs
Clinton Portis, 212 lbs
Frank Gore, 212 lbs
Brian Westbrook, 203 lbs

to name just a few

the kid is 5'9" so he's at about the right weight.

This is very good analysis. As I've mentioned in a couple of posts, perhaps Hoyte moves back to LB and is the goal line FB. You can't deny on short yardage he's an asset. Maybe Anderson would be. It's just a bias of mine. I can see a 3rd TE, but not from those currently on the roster. That is why I have 2 FBs.

Thank you for the note on Proctor. I did not know this info either.

I think you did a very good job considering where we are in the season. Just let me add my take on this if you don't mind.

DEFENSIVE LINE (7)

Spears.....Ferguson.....Canty
Bowen.....Ratliff.....Hatcher
Stanley

If Ratliff can play both positions I really don't think we carry Stanley unless he make vast improvements

LINEBACKERS (8)

Spencer....Carpenter....Burnett....Ware
Ellis....Ayodele....James....Glymph

First I don't see Carp or Burnett starting. Look for Harrington to challenge for back up duties. Note: Ellis needs to chill out with the complaints or he make get what he is asking for. Out of Dallas

SECONDARY (10)

Newman....Williams....Hamlin....Henry
Glenn....Davis....Watkins....Brown
Reeves...Ball

I think Elam will br 2nd String SS ao I think that pushes Ball to the PS. Davis better show more than SP talent or he could also be on his way. No BP to save him.

WIDE RECEIVER (6)

Owens....Glenn
Hurd....Crayton
Stanback...Austin

I can see these 6 on because they are really trying to make the Stanback project a success. Richardson should make the PS.

HALFBACK (3)

Jones
Barber
Coleman

I see Battle here instead of Coleman. Ithink the combination of Speed, Toughness and size will give him a leg up if he really perfom in the off season. No matter, I see TT out completely. I don't think he qualify to go on the PS.

QUARTERBACK (3)

Romo
Johnson
Moore

I don't see us carrying 3 and my reason for that is by having Stanback on the roster you have you emergency QB. And truth be told, if we are in a situation where we need him, then we are in trouble anyway.

Lastly, I think they will try to get by with 2 TE unless there is an injury. Also I think we may carry 2 FB (Anderson and Hoyte). I like Polite but I think he's gone. Ang unless Folk can really show accuracy in the FG game then we will be carrying 2 kickers. But Folk better be able to kick off deep or he will not have a chance at all.
