I just think back to last year when we played the Falcons and we just had absolutely no answer for Julio Jones even though we ran all over them it wasn't enough.

Now we have a chance at a guy that matches up with that type of receiver. We need Ramsey in a bad way.

I agree, but I disagree with other fans who claim he's not worth #4 if he's a great Safety. Would we think #4 was worth it for Earl Thomas or Eric Berry or the reincarnation of Darren Woodson? A safety who is fast, instinctive, physical, smart, and a guy who can lock up with a receiver in coverage and who might be a great CB too....I don't see the negative side. This isn't a slow footed CB who's best position may be to end up at Safety. He's the #1 CB on the board, and he'd be the #1 safety on the board as well. If we value someone else more, I'm fine with that, but if he's a big time player, I don't care whether he ends up at CB or S or both.

Even though I am a strong believer that you draft the best player available regardless of need (with exception of OL), does watching Byron Jones give you a pause on drafting a guy who may end up being best suited for the same position?
I don't think Ramsey at Safety (if that's where he excels) is a bad move. I just worry that this would force Byron Jones to play corner and he seems very stiff and had many problems locating the ball and turning his head around last year...

I believe many people like Ramsey but worry that we are spending the 4 pick on Byron Jones 2.0 when we have 1.0 on the roster already.

Don't be foolish....it's one thing to say he may not be a CB or he may not be an all pro, but Bust? That's really weak.

It's not foolish thinking. It's an evaluation of his play. Ramsey lacks the coverage ability and hand skills.

It will be a total blessing if somehow San Diego picks him up first.

Safeties arent the same mold as they were in the last. Not many teams are trotting out in the box safeties anymore. You need guys who can cover and tackle back there, hard hits are cool but they're more flash than substance.

With the way TE's and 3 WR sets are being used now, a guy at safety (or two) that can drop down and cover a TE, a slot guy, or anyone flexed out in motion, is invaluable. If you have two, even better, because opposing offenses won't know who's actually going to take which responsibility.
