Now that we, meaning Cowboys fans, have had a week to back away from the cliff, again; lets he honest here.
Listening to numerous Dallas Cowboys radio shows and seeking, like many of us Dallas fans are, answers to yet another bone crushing season ending loss.
If we are honest: This Dallas team OVERACHIEVED and we keep buying this hoax that the Cowboys are always loaded with talent.

Listen to Micheal Lombardi to this Dallas Cowboys myth on 105.3 FM The Fan Dallas

You are what your record says you are.
But.....
At any point during the last 25 years, has anyone have that "this is the team" feeling?

The outside media and personnel people say differently.

There are many publications that have list of the best rosters. EVERY year these publications say Dallas has a roster in the top ten and above.

You have all the talking heads giving opinions and ALL say Dallas has one of the best rosters in the league.

You have NFL GMs and others involved in team building. They say Dallas has a top roster.

The AP is the most respected of all the All Pro teams that come out and they had NINE Cowboys on 1st or 2nd team.

The only people who think Dallas has a middle of the pack or worse roster our their fans.

On this point I am going with the outside point of view.
An emerging rebel. I like tha.

Man if the Cowboys can win 12 games 3 seasons in a row with no talent, this coaching staff must be out of this world because that seems next to impossible. McCarthy should demand an extension and tell Jones to go find him some all-pros

I'm not buying the premise of this thread. The Cowboys have talent. Aside from the obvious names like Prescott, Lamb, Parsons, and Lawrence, we have talent that didn't even get a chance to put their stamp on this season. For instance, Diggs and Overshown returning to our defense will help a great deal.

There’s some talent or we wouldn’t have win 12 games the past three seasons but it’s overrated and players underachieve in the big games.
Lot of truth right there.

Coaching still matters also. Right Dan Quinn???

Elementary, lad.
We do have talent. You just equate talent to achievement.
Raw talent we have.
Game plan and execution we do not.
Every team has talent. Some more than others.

The key is to have talent that compliments each other or covers for each others weaknesses.

We do not seem to understand that. Look back at our 90's teams. This is why as fans we keep talking about why every player was so good. Was it the OLine, was Emmitt, was it Troy or was it Michael. They all complimented and made each others jobs easier.

We don't have a team. We have individuals.

A good OLine makes everyone on offense better. A good Dline makes everyone on defense better.

It can't get any simpler than that.

Blimey!
The 90s teams had 2 vital components:
1. The triplets. All others, such as Moose and Kmart and Alvin Harper and Novacek were good role players around them.
2. A swarming, opportunistic and high-energy D

Those 2 components will get any team far.
I dunna think tha a troika such as Troy, Emmitt and Michael can be replicated, but the 49ers today and the Ravens come close.

We don't have a talent problem. We have a QB problem, and a coach that's doing his absolute best to compensate for his deficiencies. We also have a coach that is kinda terrible at game management, and doesn't seem to run a tight ship. The playoff game was bad. The way the team leaders are responding is much worse. I like McCarthy, and I think he can be a great asset for other organizations, but it's not looking good right now. This team has no chance of competing in the state it's in right now.
