Our fans believe their own hype too. I've never seen a group so afraid to admit their faults. In our fluke excellent 12-4 season last year, a majority of our wins were ugly. We kept bad teams in games they shouldn't have been in and needed some last minute magic to win. Some people complained but most fans didn't want to hear it. "We won. Quit your whining." But those ugly wins comes back to bite you in the playoffs when you play other good teams. It bit us in our other good season during the Romo era. It almost bit us in the first round against the Lions last year. Then we come into this season and we start off very weak. Needed a mental blunder to luck out a win against the Giants in the opener. But we won so quit your whining. Then we looked pathetic offensively against the Eagles. But we won. Then 7 straight losses but Romo is coming back so it's all good. Then an ugly win against the Dolphins but still a win. Then a pathetic performance against the Panthers but Romo looked hurt. Then he goes down again. But a win against the Skins so there's still hope. Now let's talk about hypotheticals about how we would've won this historically bad division if Romo never got hurt and let's get offended any time anyone says we'd still be a bad team even with Romo. If you wanna set your bar low, go head. This team has been bad for a long time. If you need your elite QB to stay healthy 16 games to go 8-8, then you have big problems.
This.
The phrase "a win is a win" was way overused here. If you have an eye for football, it's how you win the game is the indicator of how good a football team you have. Last year we had a good team but they were very inconsistent against good teams. This year we were exposed in pretty much all areas for trying to do the same thing as last year. Just watch the better teams Pat Broncs Cards Panthers. Their defenses are solid and offenses move the ball more consistently. The other thing better teams have in common is their lack of mistakes. Their players are not overused and put into situations to be successful. Yes they have their moments but they usually dominate the lesser opponents and are always in the game against the better teams giving themselves a chance to win every game.
