I'm tired of hearing how talented this team is. It's frustrating now there isn't to say there isn't good players on this team. However, people are believing that talent = success. When it doesn't so I would like people to stop talking about how talented this team is. What we need is substance and not talent we need production people to play hard and have hard work ethics. All the talent means crap if you don't have your head screwed on right. I suggest everyone look up Earl "the goat' Mannigault then maybe they will get a perspective on talent.

IF you do not have the talent you won't get that much farther. You have to have talent and COACHING and DISCIPLINE and HEART. We have talent but nothing else.

Some would like you to stop talking, period, but that hasn't stopped you yet! :)

But this is the NFL so everyone is talented otherwise they would of not made it there. Some are more talented than others clearly however, talent alone is not enough to produce wins nor is it a reason for us to claim wins over of teams. Nor can we just get by on talent alone.

Nice try at deflection. Your fact is Mendenhall's good game four weeks into his second season where he garnered AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. Lets all develop amnesia and forget the facts that you have a) dogged Felix Jones from the very moment he was drafted even though he has been b) recognized as both NFC Special Teams Player of the Week and NFL Player of the Week a full season ago.

"amirite"? That's precious. :)

He played in 4 games his rookie season and didn't have as much of an impact as felix did in his 6 weeks as a rookie. Nor did he have the carries that Felix had. Isn't our O line better than Pitts? Anyways When felix has more than 10 carries in a game scream at okay? I also don't know how this thread turned into felix vs mendenhall so drop it.

I agree, DaBoys. I think it's being shown that talent is generally overrated. Certainly you need a certain level of ability, but football isn't about assembling an all-star cast (just ask Washington). You need playmakers, but more importantly a sound organizational structure that promotes the right culture and a sound coaching staff that gives you an edge every week. I'd say we have neither.

Additionally, I think our talent has shown to be vastly overrated. We have a handful of top-of-the-line players, but a ton of guys with Pro Bowls on their resume who simply aren't at that level anymore and, possibly, never were. Ken Hamlin being Exhibit A.

Also, we took an undoubted hit in the talent pool this offseason -- Owens, Pacman, Ellis, Burnett and Anthony Henry basically were all gotten rid of without an outside replacement coming in. And the internal talent we had to replace them (guys like Spencer and Carpenter) are mostly lackluster.

I'm starting to think that barber may be overrated also. Yeah he runs hard and stuff and got a lot of TDs his first 2 years but IDK.

I don't think Barber is overated. He runs well, blocks well, and catches passes out of the backfield. Got no problem with him.

For the money he is making. He should be doing more.

The only Talent we have on the team is:

Marty B
Felix Jones
Leonard Davis
Dware

The rest of them guys are just average in my book.

Your book sucks.

Talent wise ... yes

Which explains everything. If a player doesn't have off-the-chart measurements, you don't think he's worth a piss.

Arm strength, 40-time and size are the only things you see.

Forget production or value to the team, if said player doesn't out-size someone in a certain area, you don't want anything to do with that player.

McCordsville is big on muscle definition, overall size, and how an athlete looks in a tight pair of Levis. Witten just doesn't hold up.

Talent is god given. Hard work , determination and heart is NOT Talent. Its acquired.

Witten is the best TE in the league. It doesn't mean he is the most talented. In my book , there is a difference. I know it sucks.
