Talking UDRFAs...

I think Crayton will be traded and Hurd has run his course. There very well could be room for one rookie free agent WR and then there is always the practice squad. The team probably sold them by telling them Crayton and Hurd will not be here much longer and look at how we have developed Austin and we also have Ogletree developing.

I wonder if there will be a lot of upset fans when the season starts and either Hurd or Crayton maybe even both are still on the roster.

Hurd almost assuredly wont be on the roster. If he isnt traded, I doubt very seriously he makes the team.

If they dont get value for Crayton, he'll be here. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Agreed.

Austin, Bryant, Williams are locks for the roster. Crayton, if he isn't traded, is a lock to make the roster then.

For the 5th (and likely final) roster spot, Hurd would have to beat out Ogletree, which is unlikely given how the team feels about Ogletree.

For Hurd to make the roster, I think Crayton would have to be moved.

i wont be upset about Hurd...he has had his opportunities and has not shown enough. IMO, he should be prepared to try another team, the CFL, UFL, or even the AFL2.

Not 100% on the accuracy, but I think it's right or at least close. By my count, that's 16. I remember hearing Jerry say somewhere that he wanted to sign as many as 16 UDFA's, so this is probably it for us.

Most of the time its because they were the best offer. Romo taking less to come to Dallas is the exception rather than the rule.

Maybe, but I would think the FA would sign where he thinks he has the best chance of making the roster.

I recall reading this winter that Jerry was critical of Ogletree's commitment. I really wonder if rumors of trading Crayton are coming from the team, or Crayton himself.

Crayton makes 2 mill a year right?

Well I just dont see him staying here. Especially at that price because he is going to get burried on the depth chart.

Love P Crayton but at this point he is a progress stopper.

They are just trying to keep the carrot out in front of Ogletree. They love him.

I dont see how. All he does is push Hurd on to the bubble. He wasn't starting to begin with and him and Otree will compete for snaps. Thats a good thing.

If Bryant starts owning then the potential progress stopper is RW.

Crayton and Otree are going to be fighting over maybe 10 snaps a game.

He will be burried on the depth chart and he isn't going to return punts this year either.

You have Roy, Austin, Dez, and then Ogletree.

Dallas has committed to Roy so that is out of the question. They are committed to Dez so that is out of the question.

So its basically Crayton vs Ogletree for the 4th spot and Crayton does nothing but stop Ogletree progess.

Love the guy and im a Crayton > Roy guy but Dallas won't keep him.

Hurd, as of today, has more value to us than Crayton.

Just thought some of you may find the comments interesting from walterfootball. Some of the notes are from 08' and 09'.

Lonyae Miller, RB, Fresno St.
Height: 6-0. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: 4.49.
Pro 40 Time: 4.51.
Benchx225: 26. Vertical: 36.5. Broad: 10-0.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
1/16/10: Had just 68 carries for 354 yards as a senior, but received an invite to the Combine.

Matt Nichols, QB, Eastern Washington
Height: 6-2. Weight: 219.
Projected 40 Time: 4.78.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.88.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): FA.
7/24/08: Matt Nichols put up prolific numbers at Division 1-AA Eastern Washington as a sophomore (3,744 yards, 34 TDs, 9 INTs), but he didn't play any BCS competition, so we don't really know what he's made of just yet.

Will Barker, OT, Virginia
Height: 6-7. Weight: 315.
Projected 40 Time: 5.26.
Combine 40 Time: .
Benchx225: . Arm: .
Projected Round (2010): FA.
2/9/09: Accused of stealing beer from a nightclub in the summer. Let's hope it wasn't Beast.

7/27/08: Right tackle Will Barker has made 25 consecutive starts for Virginia despite just being a rising junior.

Barry Church, S, Toledo
Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Combine 40 Time: 4.68.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 19. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
1/14/10: An All-MAC first-teamer, Barry Church notched 98 tackles, 8.5 TFL and 2.5 sacks as a senior.

3/13/09: Had an outstanding junior campaign, qualifying for the All-MAC First Team with 93 tackles, six passes broken up and 5.5 TFL. However, Barry Church is a safety-linebacker tweener.

8/6/08: Barry Church has started every game in his collegiate career. He has also made the All-MAC first team every year in his collegiate career. In two seasons, Church has 163 tackles (15 for loss), six interceptions and 10 pass break-ups. Not bad.
Danny McCray, S, LSU
Nothing on him

Rashaun Greer, WR, Colorado St.
Height: 6-1. Weight: 206.
Projected 40 Time: 4.60.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.50.
Vertical: 34. Broad: 9-9.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.

Chet Teofilo, OG, Cal
Nothing

Terrell Hudgins, WR, Elon (conversion to H-back??)
Height: 6-2. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
Combine 40 Time: .
Vertical: . Broad: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/19/10: Check out these numbers: 123 catches, 1,633 yards and 16 touchdowns. Unfortunately, I can't really see Hudgins getting any separation in the pros, and he's not big enough to be a tight end.

2/7/09: At 6-3, 235, the monstrous Terrell Hudgine caught 86 balls for 1,116 yards and 10 touchdowns, qualifying for the All-SoCon First Team.

7/26/08: A massive receiver, Terrell Hudgins set a conference record with 117 receptions in 2007. Level of competition is his Hudgins' biggest issue, assuming he can run a 40 in a low 4.5.

Chris Gronkowski, FB, Arizona
Nothing

Phil Costa, C/OG, Maryland
Nothing

Bryan McCann, CB/KR, SMU
Height: 6-0. Weight: 175.
Projected 40 Time: 4.31.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.28.
Vertical: 40.5. Broad: .
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
4/12/10: Bryan McCann, an omission in the April 12 updates, ran a 4.28 at his Pro Day and notched a 40.5-inch vertical. Those measurables could get him drafted.

1/9/10: An All-Conference USA honorable mention, Bryan McCann broke up 10 passes. He also maintained a 24.2 average on kickoff returns.

3/7/09: Collected 35 tackles, five passes broken up three picks. More impressively, Bryan McCann hasn't missed a start in about 30 games.

8/5/08: Started at a few positions in SMU's secondary. Bryan McCann broke up seven passes and intercepted four balls as a sophomore.

Junior Aumavae, NT, Minnesota St.-Mankato
Nothing

Mike Tepper, T, California
Height: 6-5. Weight: 320.
Projected 40 Time: 5.24.
Combine 40 Time: 5.36.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.25.
Benchx225: 28. Arm: 32 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
1/18/10: Started every game at left tackle and qualified for the All-Pac 10 First Team.

5/15/09: Missed all of 2008 with pectoral and groin injuries. Forunately, Cal's left tackle received another year of eligibility.

Thought I would add Young in as well.
Sam Young, Notre Dame
Height: 6-8. Weight: 315.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Combine 40 Time: 5.19.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 29. Arm: 34 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
1/31/10: I can't believe I'm saying this, but Sam Young actually looked good in the Senior Bowl. He opened up a huge lane for his running back in the first quarter and was sound in pass protection all afternoon.

1/26/10: As a right tackle prospect, weighing in at 305 wasn't good for Sam Young's stock.

1/18/10: Made a huge mistake by not declaring for the 2009 NFL Draft; Sam Young had a horrific senior campaign.

10/24/09: Probably should have declared last year; USC exposed Sam Young.

11/1/08: As expected, Sam Young really improved this season and has emerged as a possible second-round prospect.

2007: Sam Young really struggled at Penn State. On one drive, he was guilty of holding and false start penalties. He was also responsible for a few sacks allowed.

Young was arguably the top recruit in the 2006 high school class, and you can tell why by just looking at him. Started for Notre Dame as a true freshman and went against the likes of Lawrence Jackson. Still has room to grow, which is pretty scary.

Sorry but Crayton is a better WR and should one of the top 3 go down he is just a much better insurance policy.

Ogletree has already shown a propensity to get complacent. Why not let them compete? If Otree wins the Crayton becomes the 5th receiver.

Youre only talking a few snaps a game anyway.
