Tank decision

Man tough call. Talk about taking a QBs soul and then pulling a noShow of a performance...
Leaves a bad taste when he’s gonna ask for 15-17 mil per year. I suspect we will sign him but he seemed to fade big time end of the season.
The Rams took his soul and his pride.

So the concept here is that he's not worth the money and is a Free Agent. But somehow we do a second franchise tag in order to be able to trade him. And another team would be willing to give a 1st AND then pay him what he'd get on the open market? (even though we don't think he's worth that?)

Am I understanding this line of reasoning correctly? I think 'reasoning' may be too strong of a word, but I just want to be sure that's the idea being talked about here. If so, I fail to see where this aligns with reality.

Everyone sucked last night. Burn the entire thing down?

Just the bad parts. You can't pay DLAW 20 million per after the way he played not only last night but pretty much the last half of the season. Including the 2 playoff games, DLAW had 2.5 sacks the last 8 games and none in the playoffs.

Tyrone Crawford needs to go. He's not a DT.

This is the problem. He want huge down the stretch, and obviously was trash yesterday. We needed someone to spark the defense and wake them up. You pay the guy that can do that. Tank isn't that guy.

I'd offer him 13-15 ish, but sometime else will break the bank. I agree with those who say it may be hard to find someone as good, but overallocation will keep us from other needs too. Tough call.
That's the $64,000 question.

I think we should keep him. I don't think he's a great player but a really good one and should pay him accordingly.

I don't see the point in creating more holes on this team. As it is we need better DTs and probably safeties as well.

Tank is good but I'm not sure he is $20 M per year good. I would flip him for a first and change (4th) if I could get it, save the cap space and continue to draft well.

It might be prudent to trade back slightly with that 1st and get more bodies. Just a thought.
You would need to tag him first

He got zero pressure last night. None.

You don't pay top dollar for a guy who can get no pressure at all when you need it most.

That's not true. He got pressure but didnt get sacks. Did he play an amazing game? No, but Khalil Mack didnt play amazing either in there loss.

You have to pay him. He’s a top 5 DE those guys are very hard to find. You lose him and we take a step back. We aren’t that far away.

Not paying him would be lunacy. He’s a top tier defensive talent, has a strong work ethic and an insane motor. You gotta pay him.

If there’s a dispensable core player it’s Byron

I read somewhere his shoulder has been busted all year. Will require surgery. If that's the case, no guarantee he comes back the same player post surgery. Tough call for the Joneses.

Both are dispensable. Neither showed up when it mattered.
