Tank Johnson and Pacman are now gone... T.O. should be next

So he gets a pass because he "wants to win" They all "want" to win.
Read Witten's quote again.

It's not enough to merely "want to win". You can "want" something all you want, but if you're not willing to WORK for it, your desire is null and void.

And there are few Cowboys who sacrifice like T.O. does in order to win football games. Witten says so himself.

T.O. busts his butt as hard as ANYBODY on the team... to make himself the best player he can be so that he can make an impact on the field and help the team win.

We need more guys with this passion. The sideshow crap is for effeminate fans who need that juicy gossip. Me, I'll stick with the nuts and bolts. T.O. works his butt off, plays hard, and is a great player and leader.

I'm sure you know more about Terrell Owens than Jason Witten does, though.

Jason Witten:

"Take Terrell for instance and all that went down. He's probably one of the top 3 hardest workers on the team. As far as coming to work every day and bringing his lunch pail and preparing and busting his butt -- doing all those things. I believe he is in it for one thing (winning). He's made all the money in the world. I don't question whether he wants to win."

(thanks theogt)
Either Witten is a two-faced liar... or some folks need to find a new hatewagon to latch on to this off-season.

Has any one said he doesn't work hard or want to win? That still doesn't offset his "want" to talk though. I'll take a team player any day over a self promoting jerk, who we haven't won a thing with.

Have you ever heard a player say he wants to lose?

It just gets old. Every team has their divas on them. They talk and harp just like T.O. does. And quite a few of those teams have divas that don't put up near the numbers that T.O. does (even in a down year).

If your team offensive leaders (particularly your QB) and your coaches and staff can not handle the personality in the locker room, then you have a bigger problem than just TO. And cutting him will not get rid of that problem. And you will see the same results (if not worse) next year.

Let's put it out there this way. Ya want him gone so bad? Who do you get to replace him? That will actually scare a defense (don't just say Austin because he really does not scare anyone, and RW11 is a posession receiver). Put some names out there of Who would replace him. Got someone better with better production them I'm all for it.

Having an angel receiving corps does nothing if you don't have a solution for someone to for replacing him, and may hurt you in the long run since the other receivers on the team seem to have little fire in their belly outside of TO. And if you have no solution for replacing him then you have to keep him ... diva and all.

Tank did not get released. He is an unrestricted free agent. More than likely they will not sign him back. His production last year pretty much guarantees that.

Tra Thomas
Mark Tauscher
John Stinchcomb
Jon St. Clair
Marvel Smith
Vernon Carey

But Flozell is not going anywhere. Same deal as TO. The cap hit would not allow us to sign other players.

We won 3 Super Bowls with Michael Irvin, who spent over a decade screaming for the ball on the sidelines.

T.O. is NOT a team player? Even though it's been established that his goal is to WIN as a TEAM?

Then please define "team player". Is Jason Witten a team player even if he snitched to the media about T.O.? Is Tony Romo a team player even though he also implied that Garrett's scheme is broken?

Save the cliches. He works hard, sorely wants to win, and when things don't go our way he chirps about it because it means a lot to him.

Could he chirp a little less? Sure. But to suggest that the chirping means he's NOT a team player or that he's a selfish jerk who is only interested in his own stats is complete buffoonery.

Amen brother! TO is also clearly the fire of this receiving corp. The next thing that will happin if the goes is you will hear the same guys complain next year about how the receiving corp has no fire or heart.

TO is the least of the problems in Dallas.

We cant get rid of Flo, we just gave him a new contract.

Salary cap is still in effect guys, we just cant go and cut anybody we feel like. Whats worse is that since the CBA has been "opted out", the June 1st rule is no longer in effect.

Thus, if you cut a player, ALL of his remaining prorated signing bonus and guaranteed money accelerates into the 09 cap.

We are about $10 mill under and we need probably half of that for the draft, so we basically have $5 mill to play with. (assuming we dont cut anybody still under contract).

Didn't we get more cap room by booting Pacman?
