Tap the brakes on Firing McCarthy

I saw posters during the game saying that McCarthy needs firing. Let me give you a few reasons to tap the brakes on this.

1. Jerry isn't going to fire him until next year unless this year is absolutely atrocious. They're paying a lot of money.
2. This was a preseason game. There's seldom a gameplan involved. It's just see what these chaps can do with simple playcalls.
   
3. If you get your wish, you do realise that means Kellen Moore will likely become the HC, right?

Just a few things to keep in mind if you want McCarthy gone.

It's the preseason, and it was the HOF game. I'm not worried. We held a team to nil in the first half. Preseason or not, we wouldn't have done that last year, and it was nice to see. I saw improvement on the defence. Did it look like the 85 Bears? No way! But it looked better than what I saw last season so far. Mainly because Parsons, Joseph, and Wright were carrying that defence.

I agree, and I think McCarthy will have this team ready. I wouldn't sack him after a preseason game.

Same! Having him as OC two or three years after retiring from the NFL as a QB was not a good idea. He should have started in the college ranks first and worked his way up like everyone else. Glad I'm not the only one that realises McCarthy gone means Moore gets the Garrett treatment.

Preseason is preseason. It's there to evaluate the players. I like the fact that the first unit came out and looked a lot more polished defensively. They didn't look constantly confused. Parsons really showed up once he started getting the hang of things. The guy is a game changer with his speed.

Exactly, The first unit for our defence looked good actually. Parsons was brilliant. We attacked the ball. Marinelli and the chap last season never had us doing that. What a nice surprise that was!

I would concur that Mike McCarthy is unlikely to lose his HC position anytime soon.

Jerry will surely be very hesitant to fire him before he has every chance to succeed.

He is and always will be, pretty careful about his image suffering needless damage.

Yep. The more coaches he hires and fires serves as proof to prospective HCs that working for him isn't a prudent choice.

Not only that . . . at his age, time isn't on his side much longer. He's smart enough to know it's likely now or maybe never.

I agree. My whole perception of him changed when he said they gotta start STACKING success. Not sure why that moved me so well but I was ready for him to be the leader of this man.
