When Seattle wins in Jerryworld (again) next weekend no one will be giving the FO credit for anything.

So a wild card win gets the FO some credit. Highly doubtful for some

I have found it ironically humorous reading so many folks suggesting Jerry and the FO deserve huge credit for the Amari Cooper trade and the firing of Paul Alexander coupled with the Marc Columbo hire. Those certainly proved to be great moves for the turnaround it has provided but let’s wait and see how the playoffs go before anointing Jerry and the FO.

Here’s why...

1. The need for those moves were based on how poorly this FO handled the off season. They waited way too late to cut Dez which left us as late entrants to the WR FA market. The result was this team entered the season with a sub par set of receivers for a developing young QB to struggle with.

2. The Paul Alexander hire was a strange one to begin with. His style and methods were a departure from what had made the Cowboys OL a top unit for the last 4 years. And couldn’t Columbo have been named OL coach in the off season?

3. The corrective moves that turned this season around were good ones but they were “reactive” moves made because of the bad “proactive” job done by JJ, SJ and the FO in the offseason.

It’s like throwing two TDs in a game in which you also threw two interceptions.

Again...credit is due for saving the season. The season was saved. But it’s also a reminder how important the offseason is to a team’s success. All will be forgiven and forgotten with a deep playoff run. But I’m tapping the brakes on any “Executive of the year” talk for Jerry until the final results are in.

You give credit because ALL franchises make mistakes, the good ones admit them and correct them, like this FO has. Just like many here lauded Philly FO for correcting their mistakes . We always seem to marvel in other teams and defecate on our own.

Recent years is a record of 30-17 or 31-16 over the last three seasons, depending on the second half today. Do you really think that merits a seperate thread calling out anyone who awards credit to the front office?

Then they finally did overpay Allen Hurns. They also drafted a WR in the third round who most people had a second round grade on.

And they weren't "waiting to cut Dez", they wanted him to take a pay cut because his salary was badly out of whack with his production. Dez is the one who forced his release by saying he wouldn't negotiate any type of cut at all.

And given the fact Dez made 588K this year instead of 13 Million, who was right about his value? Dez or Stephen Jones?

Those are facts, not opinions. And I find it humorous that you are whining about it in a thread you created to laugh at the opinions of others.

I’m just saying we should wait on the “credit” until it’s been earned in the playoffs. This year has been somewhat successful with our NFC east flag. But that’s not an improvement on anything we’ve done in the last 23 years.

Until this team can make it to a conf championship game, I don’t see that they have accomplished that much. Here’s hoping they do.

Not looking to give Jerry any awards I will give credit that instead of sitting there writing the season off he stood up and did something about it by getting Cooper. Sure I wish we had a #1 WR heading into the season and Cowboys were looking. It took a bold move and a move that put big heat on him for doing it as everyone was screaming how a poor deal this was. This was the next Roy Williams trade. Looks as if those critics were proven wrong
