Witten was putting up numbers when Dez was still in high school. I will not take away other players own accomplishment. As for Dez again I like him but he needs to take that next step 2 catches for 6 yards in post season? I expect a lot more and all the double team talk well it never stopped Irvin from producing in post season.
*Sigh*
First off Dez would have "Better numbers" if he had 2007 Romo throwing the ball to him, instead he has a more calculated passer with less arm strength in his twilight years.
Romo used to fire the ball into tight coverage, now he has to wait for perfect opportunities. I'm hoping he's fully healed now and has some of his old strength back but after surgery and given his current age, I'm guessing he will remain more calculated with his throws..
The plus in all of this is that he throws less interceptions these days and he has a good o-line to afford him time as well as help in the run game so he doesn't have to throw so much.
The reality is that Dez is always open, even when he's double covered but again there's that issue I mentioned above.
Romo's production is up, numbers are better than ever, but his overall physical ability has diminished. He's playing smarter and not harder these days and we are seeing less turnovers.
Irvin had a young strong Aikman throwing the ball to him, Dez has Mr Zipcode throwing the ball to him, big difference..
