Tapper or extra RB

neither if we had to make a choice..we wont have to as we dont need extra backs on the 53 maybe Bo on the PS, or tucked away somehow..

we dont need that many extra backs even with TA being considered a WR not back we take 21, Smith and Olalwalae, and possibly BO maybe bo beats Olalawale out as hes big enough to ;lay FB and can split time there??,these camp bodys are just that..we need to go long at TE and WR until we figure out the depth chart..

Not a chance Bo beats out Olawale. There isn't even a competition at FB. Olawale knows the position and plays it well, and Bo does not know the position.

Comes down to who can play special teams when you are talking about that type of bubble spot...which gives bo a decided advantage

A 4th RB or Tapper will likely be inactive. If kept, it will be for development or if another player at their position misses a complete game.

If Tapper is active, his ST ability won't really matter much because he'll be the 4th DE getting significant snaps in the rotation.

Backup RBs on the other hand are expected to be significant ST contributors.

If the RB is kept more for development purposes then his current ST ability won't be a big deal.

Scarbrough averaged 3.7 yards per carry, including his goal-line attempts. Jackson average 3.5.

Both had a big run: Scarbrough 28 yards, Jackson 13. Both didn't do much on the rest of their carries (Scarbrough 8 for 5 yards, Jackson 5 for 8), but again Scarbrough had two carries from the 1, scoring on one of them, and 1 from the 2.

Scarbrough had 2 receptions for 19 yards, with a long of 11. Jackson had 1 for 14.
The only thing that would have me take a long look at Bo is if we didn't have a goal line presence but we do in Zeke and Rod. For guys with limited touches we don't need a bruiser we need a playmaker. And DJ is more that, than Bo.

Tappers garbage and hes injury prone and were deep at that position. I would have cut Tapper long ago. And since our entire offense and team success is centered around the run game, I would keep Bo without a 2nd thought.

This, as Steven A Smith says, if something can go wrong it will with Tapper.

Couldn't they just keep 3 backs and use Austin sparingly as a back...

Of course, it's not just a straight up either keep Tapper or Bo thing. There is also a decision on how many WR's and TE's and linemen on both sides of the ball to keep.

They are pretty loaded at DE. Right now we're one Zeke Elliott injury away from a scrub like Rod Smith starting.

Give me the back.
I have to agree with you. We are a run first team and have kept 4 backs before. Not sure why some think we won't keep 4 backs.

We could trade Tapper for a QB haha just joking with you

I don't know why some consider Jackson a playmaker. The first preseason he was with us, he averaged 3.5 yards per carry. This preseason, he's averaging 3.5 YPC. His longest run has been 15 yards. His longest reception has been 18 yards and a touchdown, the only one he has scored in 52 preseason touches.

He has good size and speed, but I don't think he has good vision. I'm not saying Scarbrough is any better. At this point, I'd be OK with keeping neither on the 53. I just don't think we'll go with two true backs ... and Scarbrough was out there a lot on special teams.

Tapper. We need defensive line bodies. Our running game isn't a weakness.

If the last spot on the roster was choose Tapper or the loser of the Jackson/Bo battle who would you choose?

I personally would go with Tapper mainly because the 4th RB would probably not get many snaps.

Keep Tapper. You cannot have enough pass rushers. I remember that sack on Elk on opening day last season. That was a pivotal play in that time of the game.

Plus, if a 3Rd running back becomes this important, then Dallas is screwed already.

I don't think this is a question that necessarily needs to be answered now. I think Irvin is suspended for the first four games so Tapper can be on the team until he comes back. At that point, you can make a decision on Tapper.

I don’t see Tapper making the team either way.

DLaw, Crawford, Taco, Gregory, Armstrong ... that’s five guys who are better than Tapper. Datrone Jones has more versatility. Kony Ealy and Tapper just aren’t going to make it.

Just curious...you really think the #6 De is going to get any snaps. Marinelli is notorious for 4 de and 3 dt on game day. It's going to be an extra wr, s, or final cuts trade for ol at Tappers expense! Can't see them going into season with just Looney and Flemming as the only backups and the rest are atrocious!

The Cowboys are "allergic" to good 1 Tech players. Jerry and Steven are breaking out in hives just knowing you typed that here. How dare you!

Right now they have 3 DTs on the roster that are 318 LBs or more. Obviously they won’t all stick, but they will have a few big bodies.

I’m saying we go long at rob no fullback. Bo and smith are big enough to play FB. IT was the hypothetical set by OP. I’m just spitballing. We need moreWR AND TEs. The fb could be sacrificed.

I'd keep Noah Brown before Tapper or Scarbrough.

"Can't make the club in the tub"

I had high hopes for Brown too but he's missing too much time during this all-important time for a young player.
