Guys, want your opinion on this. Two projections please.

Who gets the most carries (not return game; and receiving, just rushing the ball) between Tashard Choice and Felix Jones.

1. THIS SEASON?

2. IN THE NEXT 5 SEASONS?

Another way to think about the question is short term value vs. long term value.

Do you like Choice or Jones?

 Wade has already commented.

Barber and Jones are Superstars/Probowlers!!!!

Choice is just a very good running back mired in 3rd place.

Jones will get the most looks because of his explosiveness.

Best thing for Choice is a trade for a first class offensive lineman which we need badly!!!

1. Felix Jones.
2. Felix Jones.

And Choice was my favorite running back out of that class.

Felix Jones as the answer to both but I wouldn't mind, at all, if Choice stuck around here five or six years to help keep this an amazing running trio. Sadly in the future he'll be the featured, or at least in a 50/50 rotation, for another team.

I appreciate the responses so far. What is a little surprising about the Cowboys position on this is that Choice produced over a pretty large sample last year. He was almost halfway to a thousand (472) on only 92 carries, which is a whopping 5.1 on a pretty significant amount of chances. You would think when a back produces over that large a sample you would give him a really good look.

Give Felix the carries, keep Choice on the back-burner for the most part (maybe we use him as a closer), and in a year or two when we have to part ways with Barber - it's inevitable - we give Choice new money and unleash a fresh back who knows our offense frontways and sideways and keep Felix in the same role he's always had.

You have to be realistic.
Choice is a very good running back but the Cowboys coaches aren't going to move him over Barber or Jones. It's just a fact...
Draft position and Big Contracts do matter in the NFL. I like him too but he just has no long term future in Dallas. Sad, but I think Choice will be an Emmett Smith type runner for some other team within 3 years.

I hope Choice plays out his rookie contract, and then we sign him when Barber starts declining. I don't see Barber lasting very long with the way he runs, especially if he runs as much as last year.

Exactly. People seem to forget that Barber was a 4th rounder, just like Choice and that Choice led the ACC in rushing two years in a row.

If Barber didn't have the big contract, I think this would be a wide-open competition for who to pair with Felix.

Sure, Barber had a pro bowl season, but didn't top 1000 yards and averaged 60 yards per game. The TD's and his brutal running style are what earned him the Pro Bowl. No other recent pro bowl RB's weren't leading or close to leading the league in yards.

Before anyone jumps on me, I'm not crapping on Barber, I am just pointing out facts. Fact is, you could probably get similar production from Barber or Choice, though I do believe Choice is the more complete back of the two.

I'm just happy that both are on this team along with Barber. As for the future it will take care of itself one way or the other thankfully our backs are all under contract for the next 2 or 3 season and in the meantime just go out play ball.

There were also several times during that stretch when, to my eye, Felix would've scored rather than making a 15-yarder. The Pittsburgh game especially comes to mind. One long Felix TD run could've been the difference in that game.

Felix is far more talented IMO. It's only a question of health with him.

Now I will say that I think Choice could be every bit as effective as Barber in a bigger role.

Choice has a brighter future as a full time back IMO. Jones gets more yards and carries this season. Choice should be our future #1 back.

Choice needs to be dealt for picks or OL help. I would rather trade barber but his contract is too big. I like TC but we have one back too many

and where would that OL play?

There's no way in hell I'd even remotely consider trading Choice for a backup OL.

WHY OH WHY ARE WE ALWAYS BEING ASKED TO CHOOSE SIDES BETWEEN TWO PLAYERS? WE CAN LIKE BOTH! THEY ARE NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE PLAYERS!

WHY CAN'T WE JUST BE HAPPY WITH BOTH INSTEAD OF ALWAYS HAVING TO PICK BETWEEN THE TWO AND BE IN THAT "CAMP"?

For the sake of our december performance i would like Choice to get more carries early on (maybe 7 or 8 carries). Its not like he is a slouch. It would be a shame if Choice was to get half the carries anyway because of an early season injury.

I don't remember asking if we should trade one? By "like", I meant, in context, to get more carries than the other. Like, "who do you like to play well this weekend?" .... who do you think will? is the idea.

It's going to suck having to unload Barber, since his style of backs dont last long, but he's not that old.

He's 26 right now, I say he move him when he's 29-30, I dont know if Choice is going to ride the pine for that long and want to re-sign here.
