Taven Bryan is a man

But other than that it's amazing film.

Bryan the super explosive 3 tech - 10.5 career TFLs in 3 years.

Vea the wide bodied run stuffing 1 tech - 15 TFLs in 3 years.

Vea's played 7 more games over that time but still. Where is the production for such an athletic, explosive player? I wouldn't touch Bryan in the first round.
I agree, but Tbryan would be a great 2nd/3rd rounder IF somehow we went LB in the first and/or WR 2nd etc some players like him might slip ..this draft needs to get here quick..

Those numbers scare me too. But if Marinelli has his way, I believe Bryan is the pick if they go defense.

In high school Bryan was an offensive lineman....all state as a matter of fact. But,he didn't want to play that side of the ball and Florida was the only major program that was willing to play him on defense. So, basically no experience as a DL, instincts and awareness are low,and being buried on the depth chart for two yeasr before getting his chance to start (Jr. year) are reasons for his low numbers.
Don't get too caught up with the production numbers on Bryan, and be mindful of the plays were he was a disruptive force and wasn't credited. He probably has the highest ceiling of any DL in the draft...it's just going to take a year or two to harness the talent.

Here is an interesting article about Tavan's roots...http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...the-florida-dl-drawing-comparisons-to-jj-watt

After reading the article do you think this kid has the makeup to become a real nice player?

This was said about Jalen Ramsey

True but comparing stats for a CB compared to a DT that’s supposed to dominate the LOS.

A CB can essentially be so good that teams avoid even throwing to his side thus affecting his stats.

A DE/DT that we are to believe will be a stud penetrator at the 3 Tech? He’s going to show that skills and accumulate stats regardless.

People are always so desperate to compare a guy to an existing NFL player.

This comparison is weak IMO. Why?

Because Watt has over 35 TFL at Wisconsin. Bryan hasn’t even sniffed that.

if we go DT at 19 I hope it's DaRon Payne.
but Im now convinced he wont make it past the chargers.
not a fan of Taven Bryan...Florida's defense sucked this year...no thanks.

if its defense its Evans or LVE.

The athletic ability is what people are comparing...not the production numbers.

Forget about the headline of the article...the article is more about Bryan's upbringing and where his values are.

You’d think if a guy had the athleticism Bryan had he’d be more productive in college.

you take a player like this in RD 2.

Maliek Collins - 21.5 TFLs in 3 years at Nebraska. Or double that of Bryan.

Maybe he'll be better because of just cause and stuff.
So now college production is the only determining factor for how good youll be in the pros?

Cool. That David Irving and his 7.5 TFL in 3 years.

Oh yea and theres Kiper who has Bryan in the first. Heres what Mel had to say about Bryan:

This pick is all about projection, as Bryan is a freakish talent who didn't produce to his ability at Florida; he had only 5.5 career sacks. But there were games (turn on the Texas A&M tape from 2017) in which he looked like a top-10 pick. He would play 3-technique for the Lions and new coach Matt Patricia. Bryan is raw, but he could be a star given time (and coaching) to develop.

The Chargers are enamored with Ridley btw...that's the chatter going on with them right now. So we have a fairly good shot at either Payne and Bryan..OR HERNANDEZ at 19.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I, like, disagree and stuff. Kiper himself admits it's a projection. Meaning the production isn't there to warrant the draft pick. You don't draft a player in the first round to expect him to do in the pros when he couldn't do in college.

And to say he certainly will be better than Maliek Collins is just nonsense. You have nothing to point to on the football field to make such a statement.

Oh, and I also wouldn't have drafted Irving in the 1st round either. The entire league agreed too.

Yeah Jeff George called, said "Trust Mel under any circumstances"
Because looking good on paper always negates productivity on the field.

So you disagree, cool. Still doesnt excuse the nonsense you spewed over the production in college determining how good he’ll be as a pro. Utter Nonsense.

Kiper, Brugler, and Mcshay all have him in the first round.
