If returning punts is his only problem just dont let him do thatSo, as long as he is only muffing punts, it's alright?

Doesnt matter. His last fumble helped keep Dallas out of the playoffs!how many % did dez fumble?
Just put Beasley back to catch the ball then lateral it to Austin! Problem solved! So his problem, clearly, has been only muffed punts.
how many % did dez fumble?
Can we stop the Tavon Austin fumble narrative?
On Offense he does not have a fumble problem.
In his 5 year career he has:
On Runs: 1 fumble
On Receptions: 4 fumbles
On Punt Returns: 17 fumbles
His fumble rate on offense for his career is better than:
Zeke 2016
Dez Career
Jay Ajayi 2017
Fumble Percentage On Offense:
1.32% Tavon Austin Career
1.41% Zeke 2016
0.96% Zeke Career
2.50% Jay Ajayi 2017
1.22% Jay Ajayi Career
1.81% David Johnson Career
1.57% Tiki Barber Career
2.59% Tiki Barber 2003
1.51% Dez Career
So, as long as he is only muffing punts, it's alright?
Hey, don’t disparage the supermarket tabloids. They are a lot of times more reliable than the usual sources.
Dez used to muff punts and they quit using him on returns. We get rid of guys who muff punts.... see Switzer
These Austin fumble threads need more facts and more context.
He has never actually fumbled on 182 career rushes or 24 career kickoff returns. The one "fumble" he is credited with on a rushing play was not a fumble -- his knee was clearly down, and the ball went out of bounds. Since there was no turnover and no reason to challenge it, the "fumble" was never reviewed.
Also, he has three actual fumbles on his 194 career receptions. His fourth "fumble" on a reception was actually an attempted lateral pass on one of those last-second plays when the losing team is throwing the ball around hoping for a miracle. Austin's lateral was recovered by the opponent.
On his 222 fielded punts, he has muffed 13 of them (four of which resulted in a turnover). He has fumbled four times during a punt return, but none of them resulted in a turnover.
So his problem, clearly, has been only muffed punts. Once he has the ball in his hands, he is no more likely to fumble than the majority of other players.
Austin will be Ok, just had some bad times with the RAMS, this guy can do it all, KR,PR, RB, WR, and more..........................If returning punts is his only problem just dont let him do that
Too many hatersGreat info...however, the Austin detractors will not take this into account. and just keep posting the same crap. It happens to every player they want to "dislike" on.
He is the current player along with Twill, since some of them moved on from Dez.

I will quote this and hope some more people read this. It is what is needed to be informed when talking about Austin’s fumbling... or non-fumbling.These Austin fumble threads need more facts and more context.

Well said indeed SIRexpress the meaning of (the writer or speaker or something written or spoken) using different words, especially to achieve greater clarity.
17 fumbles on punt returns is pretty bad. So we don’t let him return punts. Remember the 1 fumble Switzer had in the rams game? Changed the whole game and we lost. Not blaming Switzer himself for the team loss. But.Can we stop the Tavon Austin fumble narrative?

Great post. Thanks for the info. I feel a little better about why JJ picked him up. No punt returns for him. LolThese Austin fumble threads need more facts and more context.
