Taylor Hawkins-Foo Fighter Drummer Died

Such a punch in the gut to wake up to this morning. RIP Taylor.

And I can't imagine what Dave is going through right now. Do the Foo Fighters even go on after this since he was such an integral part of the band?

Love the band and he became one of my favorite musicians after watching "Sonic Highways", he just had this magnetic smile and was so at home pounding the skins. My favorite memory of him was the Nashville episode at the Grand Ole Opry when they are in the "Ladies' Room", which is their female Hall of Fame and he and a bandmate are walking around and looking at the pics of the most famous ladies of Country Music. As he gets to the end, he turns to his mate and says "I don't know any of these women". I fell out, it was a great moment. Taylor, the True Rocker.

I hope the preliminary news about this being an overdose are wrong. Wife and 3 children are 4 great reasons for that not to happen. Not judging, have no idea what that life is like but it will make this loss a more bitter one to take.

Maybe not as the Foo Fighters, he wasn't just the band's drummer, he was Dave Grohl's best friend and in most of the interviews I saw with him, Taylor was always around and making him laugh.

Anyone loses their best friend, they lose a part of themselves that can never be replaced, a hole in their soul that can't be filled.

plus they all toured together. Wives , kids,.. etc. One huge family and that is going to be rough. Really horrible and sudden.

My wife and I love the Foo Fighters. We always commented on how good Taylor Hawkins could drum. How much confidence did he have to play the drums in a band with Dave Grohl? Most drummers simply keep rhythm.....Hawkins made music.

Everlong has some of the best drum playing I've heard.

The news is reporting that a toxicology drug screen found at least 10 different pyschoactive drugs in his system.

It’s a shame that these guys who “have it all” including riches and fame frequently feel the need to kill themselves with toxins and filth.

Hopefully some good will come of this, and it will be a warning to others.

Looks to be a case of "death by misadventure". Not sure about your last statement, this surely wont be the last time because humans quite often think we are infallible.

It's been happening within the music business for decades.

Horrible horrible news. The guy had a lot of energy and had an infectious stage presence. He had so much joy performing. RIP.

Here are a couple of favorite performances from him and the Foos.

The report showed he had at least 10 different psychoactive substances in his body including "THX (Marijuana), tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines, and opioids, among others,"

There's your culprits. That mix is a bad combo, even if prescribed and used appropriately.

The "among others" would be interesting to see what shakes out.
