Mays just ran a 4.24 at the combine for those whho said he was slow as Roy Williams, anybody now interested...mayock just said he has had one of the best combines for a safety...43 inch vertical

Somewhere Al Davis just peed down both legs (more than normally)

Please point out one person who said that. Covers like Roy? Yeah. But slow? For a track guy coming out of high school? Somebody's being stupid here.

Hopefully the Commanders wer paying attention.

This kid may look great in shorts, but he is a Roy Williams type safety. Don't need him in Dallas.

Thats impressive, but Mayock is not that impressed with his tape.

Let's wait and see if that unofficial 4.24 holds up. I hear on the same run he was also timed at 4.33...still great though.

Roy Williams= made plays
Taylor Mays= never makes plays

I dont care how fast he ran.

I saw him getting burned way too often last season. I don't care about his 40 time or how much he lifts or some 3 cone drill. He will not deal with any of that in a football game

Obviously, you didn't see him play his junior year at USC?

And obviously you ignore his stat lines

what plays has he made? what plays did he make as a junior?

Five interceptions and one forced fumble in four seasons in a wide-open passing conference.

Where do I sign up to get this playmaking machine!?

i really don't care but since most people have him in mock drafts going to us 27th...i think in the nfl its going to depend on what defense he plays in

I am hoping Zimmer gets intrigued and lobbies for him hard keeping him away from our pick.

exactly.

no one questioned his straight-line speed.
his problem is actually making plays.

how does a guy who can run a 4.2 40 have his pathetic pass defense metrics???

that will undoubtedly get him overdrafted, hopefully by an nfce team other than dallas.

"USC safety Taylor Mays was clocked with an unofficial 4.24-second 40-yard dash. If that number holds, it would tie Chris Johnson for the fastest 40 time in the combine since 2000, when official results were first recorded. There are no official results prior to 2000.

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks heard one scout put Mays at 4.33, but even with that time Mays would become the second-fastest participant at this year’s combine. Clemson RB Jacoby Ford ran an official 4.28 40 on Sunday"

Let's not start throwing 4.2 (or 4.24 to be exact) around until it is real. I suspect the 4.33 was correct since his next run had him at 4.34ish.

Anyway, that spread tells me probably no way he ran a 4.24.

Give me Thomas anyway. :)

No doubt teams love his measurables. Good size and speed but the guys coverage skills were poor taking bad angles and getting turned around. Maybe he can get develop and learn but to me he is a big risk pick

bingo what does he do on the field, not much;

Official time 4.43
Now everyone can hopefully calm down. :laugh2: Too many here were running with the unofficial times as if they were golden..which they are obvioulsy not. Giant diff between 4.24 and 4.43...huge.
