I agree that neither team will be in the NCG, I think we see another TCU-BSU match-up or one of these teams gets the Rose Bowl and the other team is on the outside looking in, which I think is a shame regardless of which way it plays out.

If Auburn and Oregon win out they deserve the NCG, no questions asked, but both TCU and Boise would deserve a BCS bowls, but it is very possible that one of them will be left out. That would be the ultimate farce. Pitt will be in, Virginia Tech will be in, but Boise or TCU, both potentially the best team in college football, will be playing in the Vegas Bowl, or the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, or the Humanitarian Bowl.

At least Boise is returning 14 starters next year, including Moore, so we can have this conversation again next year.

Yeah, the game would actually matter. Not sure how that would cause the ratings to go down.
the World Series mattered, why did the ratings suck so bad compared to other World Series?

Same reason a Dallas/Pitt superbowl would get higher ratings than a Cleveland/Panther superbowl. But that isn't even a fair comparison you just made....comparing two world series together (only difference is the teams) vs a bowl game that's just an exhibition game vs that game being one that actually matters between two of the top teams in a playoff game is a total different matter.

Come on man?!?!?!?!

She had every excuse in the book, and even accused me of being close minded because I wouldn't accept there were too many obstacles to change. Too many obstacles? Those obstacles were created by the NCAA, they can be overcome by the NCAA.
I honestly believe it will take some sort of government involvement (or at least the threat of such) in order to get a playoff system. If Congress threatens to investigate the NCAA for violations of antitrust laws, that could scare them straight.

I'm not sure what you are saying here, so let me ask a straightforward question: Do you think the Fiesta Bowl gets higher ratings with an unranked Pitt Panthers versus #14 VA Tech, or with a National Championship semi-final between #1 Oregon and #4 Boise State?

That's not even close, especially with the history between those two teams. All the BCS supporters cheering Oregon on to shut up these whiny Broncos, that's a heck of a game and it def has a huge national draw. TCU at Auburn would be the same thing, pride of the SEC against the best AQ, deciding once and for all if the AQ's belong in this discussion. The let down would be when TCU faces BSU in the NCG.

I'm not taking anything away from TCU, they laid the wood to Utah, the SOS argument is not mine it is Sagarin's. My beef is the perception that TCU's schedule is far and away better than BSU's.

Nope, I agree. I'd say its a far cry to claim TCU has overwhelmingly played a better schedule than Boise State. It's close. Both have played Oregon State, Boise played Virginia Tech in Washington DC (which may as well have been Blacksburg for the close proximity VT is to DC).. TCU played Utah in Rice Eccles.. TCU played Baylor team that has been better than expected, and will play a San Diego State team better than anticipated. Boise played Nevada and Hawaii..

It's not overwhelming in TCU's favor. I'd say TCU's is slightly better, because I think the MWC is a tougher conference than the WAC, but I won't slight Boise State by any means.

I agree that neither team will be in the NCG, I think we see another TCU-BSU match-up or one of these teams gets the Rose Bowl and the other team is on the outside looking in, which I think is a shame regardless of which way it plays out.

I fully agree Jack.. If it boils down to Boise State and TCU being the only unbeaten teams, they should play for the National Title.. Period. Sadly, the politics of football won't let them do so.

I think this argument about the ratings crap is a farce too. Think you'll lose your behinds? Did college basketball lose theirs when Butler made the National Title game? Considering they drew their highest ratings (16.0) in over a DECADE and the game was the third highest watched National Title Game ever, I'd say people DO care for the little guy.

How about Auburn's offense, led by Cam Newton vs. TCU's slam you in the mouth, shut you down defense?

Yeah, that's sick to consider.

The playoff system is long overdue in college football me thinks. Our current version, the BCS, is flawed horribly. The playoff system isn't perfect, but it at least gives teams a viable chance and doesn't let a computer decide who the two best teams are.

Speaking of Cam Newton, the whispers of him being involved in something illicit are getting louder. I guess if he got suspended - still a longshot at this point - it would certainly benefit TCU. And I bet the Heisman Trust are following the developments very carefully. I doubt they would want to repeat the Reggie Bush fiasco.

At this point all either team can do is wait it out and see where the chips lie. If either program gets snubbed then there will definitely be some more ammo for getting rid of this corrupt system. If TCU gets in the NCG I will be their biggest fan, I am just tired of the bias against both of these clubs who do nothing but prove that they belong.

i hope TCU stays in the mountain west. i hope TCU and Boise make it an annual thing to play each other to end the year. They are already a great, budding rivalry having played in bowl games recently and they could help each other in SOS and in the minds of human voters who seem to forget anything that happened more than 3 weeks ago

Not I. I hope they both move into BCS conferences so they can quit getting screwed.

I know.

I just think it's funny that playing a good team only helps the BCS darlings.

You could put any of a number of teams in TCU's spot, have them beat the #5 team and you can almost guarantee a move up of at least 1 ranking.

I would love to see TCU get to No. 1 as much as anybody, but we have to be fair and recognize they play a very pedestrian scheule compared to Auburn or even Oregon. What TCU has to hope happens is that Alabama will pull together and beat Auburn, and even then it may need to be a convincing victory by Alabama to get TCU in the championship game.

They will have to win the SEC Championship game too. That will probably be LSU. If LSU beats Auburn for the SEC championship, the BCS will use that as enough to vault LSU over TCU therefore again, screwing TCU out of a chance at a Championship.

Or even if Auburn comes back froma a loss to Alabama and wins the SEC Championship game that may put them ahead of TCU.

Maybe Oregon losing is TCU's best hope.

It's still a tough debate though, so I don't know that I can flat out state TCU will be getting screwed. They just don't play the same level of competition over the course of the season.

Don't see that happening. Arizona would have to pull a rabbit out of their butt to beat Oregon. No way Cal or Oregon State will beat them. Auburn losing is the only way IMO.

Might as well concede now, no way TCU is going to land in the NC game.

The sad thing is, they are already in a conference that is far and away superior to the one that they are possibly moving into next year.

Well, my statement may not be entirely fair since I don't follow other sports. But as far as football is concerned, it is a travesty that the Big Least gets an AQ and the MWC doesn't.

I see a one loss LSU, Auburn, Wisconsin, Oregon or even Ohio State getting the nod over TCU. It's a massive joke and a farce.

The Big East isn't world beaters, but I'll tell you this, if rumors of expansion invites are true, TCU should and WILL jump on that stat.
