The Cowboys do all the smart team building things that are just textbook.

Draft, skip Free Agency, pay their own guys and pay them top dollar.

The Rams have been to 2 Superbowls in recent years and they get rid of picks for players and constantly go and get guys. Nothing conservative about their approach.

You could make the argument the Bucs did the same thing as well as the Broncos in recent years.

Is the way the Cowboys team build a recipe for success or will they never have enough to get over the hump?

Sadly, every year our upgrades are just rookies and it’s rare to get the production we got this year.

We need to go for it when we think guys put us over the top. This has been our fatal flaw in the last 5-10 years. We don't do what it takes to get over the hump...which is shocking bc JJ knows he doesn't win without Haley and without later getting Deion.

What the Cowboys are doing is just not working. Relying on rookies and the draft solely isn't amounting to anything. Those drafted players take time to develop or our coaches aren't doing good enough to get them up to speed. By the time they're up to speed their contracts are up. Smh

You're never going to see a "go for it" year as long as Stephen Jones is around.

Not sure if him saying exactly that a few months ago isn't enough proof.

It's contend first.....and if you happen to win it all, great.

Personally I can't remember the last Dallas team that had the gumption to get through the football I've seen the last two weeks and they have quite a ways to go to get there.

There is more than one way to build a team. The talent is not the problem here. We could do it the Ram's way and our team's culture would still cause us to fail in the end. I think if The Rams Organization had our set of players and we had theirs, the results would likely be the same as today.

I think many people thought that is how you build a winner, but the problem is that we do not have many "winners" on the team.

By that I mean we have a lot of "great" and "potential" players, but no proven "winners" on the team.

The Cowboys have a lot of "think they already won" players though :D

We're close. If we go into this offseason with a focus on both offensive and defensive lines we'll be better. And if we can clean up the penalties and mistakes on top of that we'll be hard to beat.
Meh...if, if, if....a dozen teams around the league can say the same thing. Dumb and dumber are incapable of getting this team over the hump.

It has worked for the Bucs and Rams these last two years, but both are going to be in trouble going forward.

Meh. Can do it in a variety of ways. Cincy has done it through the draft.

Remember when Jerry spent a decade trading 1st round picks for that missing piece WRs? How did that work out?

The biggest problems in Big D are:
1 Hiring bad HCs
2 Bad contracts.
3 The owner is responsible for both above.

Lots of teams have gone all in and not made it. Had the Rams not won today this looks really bad. If the Bengals win it still does. They don’t have a 1st until 2024.

Having said that at least they tried
