Can anyone remember the last time someone was lined up wrong?

I don't see Romo yelling and screaming at people. How many time outs or negative plays happened all because someone was in the wrong spot?

Was it all Kevin Olgetree?

How many guys on defense would point, or wave or throw their hands up before the snap?

Was it all Rob Ryan's scheme?

I think we have smarter people on our team.

We still see some of that. Mo was pointing a lot in his last game.

Yes, smarter players and better coaching.

Marinelli focuses on fundamantals. Rob Ryan focuses on smoke and mirrors and didn't focus on fundamentals.

Gone are Ogletree, MartyB, etc..

I remember a horrific a delay of game followed by a bone head intentional grounding....

nearly blew the game bc of that sequence of plays

I think its a matter of having smarter players but also just a better overall focus.

Things are also a bit simplified I think, which helps on at least the defensive side of the ball.

Ryan still has problems with blown coverages. Like the Saints when nobody was covering Devin Street. Or in the Saints game against the Browns final play before the Browns kicked the game winning FG...blown coverage had a receiver wide open.

With that said, I think that is part of the process with a defensive scheme like Ryan's versus what Marinelli does. Ryan and D-Coordinators like him try to out-scheme. Marinelli tries to get athletes to hustle.

Offensively, I think it helps that we have a center that has a clue. Tough to have a center like Gurode who was good for 2-3 awful games a year because he handles the ball every down. And he didn't even call line adjustments. I also think a lot of this is due to Garrett being the HC instead of Wade. Wade would just call it a day if the offense kept screwing it up and would tell them to go and watch film. Garrett is more about making them continue to practice it until they get it right. We don't do a lot of shifting anyway. And the receivers have mostly been in our system for a while (Dez since 2010, Harris, Witten, etc).

I will say that it seems that we get less bad movement on those last second audibles from Romo. It seems more like those last second audibles hurt Romo more than anything because he sometimes forgets the basics of the situation because he's too busy audibling. But, we are not seeing those false starts and illegal procedure penalties. However, that may be due to us running more. A lot less likely to get those penalties on running plays.

One thing I have noticed in situations where we are bleeding the clock our backs and recievers are going down in bounds instead of that extra yard and stepping out.

Was there even any Defensive holds or illegal contacts or even any PI's yesterday, from either team?
I can't recall right now, but there weren't many, if any at all.

I am surprised as usually we get called for a few and especially on 3rd and long.

Jason Garrett has made player intelligence a big factor into who he drafts and targets in Free Agency. That's why I think Claiborne was a Jerrysplash pick.

It's paying off.

Scandrick and Durant were both called for holding.

I miss those false start penalties when were driving deep into our opponent's territory. Ah those were the days.....

The ones were getting called for after further review are ticky tack fouls. Yet they never call those against us even if they maul Dez to a pulp.

Right.
Bob & Dan on the ticket today were talking abou tthat catch. I think it was them.
Anyway someone brought up on the Dez catch, actually Joseph should have been flagged for a PI. He went up, hit Dez, but never turned his head back to the ball. Could have been PI for face gaurding too.
But since it was caught, maybe the ref didn't throw the flag, but he should have.

i'm not sure, will need to see it again.

Someone forgot to get this memo to the special teams. A lot of stupid holding and blocks in the back still. They aren't monumental penalties because we still end up with the ball, but small field position battles can definitely hurt you in a game. Definitely gotta clean that up. Spillman had like 3 by himself didn't he?

That play and the pass to TWill could have been called. If they called that on TWill I would have considered it ticky tack. But they have called those on us before many times so thats why Im bringing it up.

I guess Olgetree was really really that bad. How do you expect him to block or catch the ball when he cant even get lined up. Romo would have to point where to line up on every play.
