When you look at the TE prospects that were expected to visit this week, the likes of Woods, Ruckert and Otton are all considered solid 3rd rd prospects. They also did bring in Wydermyer but who knows where his landing spot is after his poor offseason testing.
Wydermyer will be a priority free agent. The thing is he probably has the best tape of all the prospects. You just can’t work out that poorly and expect to be drafted.

- I'm taking what Stephen and Jerry says with a grain of salt. But these are the times where i'd wish they'd stay close to cloaking and shielding their intent to certain positions

- Why would your executives be yelping out to the world what we are needing, so that other NFL team can have a hint advantage at jumping ahead of us (ala Philly) to
- get the player and position we want ..?

Wouldn't you rather be sending out misleading smokescreens and false alarms to hide our intentions on this and that player ?
That's probably a lead reason why teams went ahead with picks like Horn and Surtain Jr. because they knew we were gonna have a beat on the
same players they were interested and had their draft board as well.
When you see them linked to close to 10 TE’s they are taking one. Years past, they weren’t showing same type of interest

I think he still gets drafted, but more of a later pick now.

This is my biggest problem. Tape on Wydermeyer is excellent. Watch his games against Alabama the last couple years. Watch his Auburn tape. He was considered the #1 TE coming off the board by tape.

Then the workout happened, and now I have no clue which teams value tape and which ones value the underwear olympics.

He went from a possible late 1st round pick to possible UDFA. I have no clue any more.

Drafting TE2 with an early pick is maddening strategy.

Shultz is obviously TE1.

Cowboys have holes/questions in many other positions in starting lineup.

LG
RT
OC
SLOT
EDGE
NT
LB

But you could be right because Stephen and Jerry have strange proclivities.

100 percent this team will draft a TE early. I would bet they're looking to move on from paying their TE 10 m a year (cap boy) but don't want to completely dismantle this year's offense.

I'd expect us to get a guy like Ruckert or Otten in 4, or McBride or Woods if they somehow fall to our 3 (more likely they go in two)

If we don't, I'd expect them to then sign a long term deal with Schultz after the draft. If they do get one, Schultz walks after this year

It looking likely they will be targeting a TE in that 3-5 rd range. They could use those 5th rounders to move up from 129 on day 3, but think the top players at the position will start to come off the board in the third rd. Like Edge, it's going to be what flavor of ice cream do you like, I am hopeful that find a TE who can actually help the run game and give us a little more then Shultz in the pass.

Should not be a run on TE until end of 2nd, at earliest.

Jalen Wydermyer
Chigoziem Okonkwo
Cole Turner
Grant Calcaterra
Austin Allen

Many of above should still be available 5th or lower.

We want a legitimate, future starter, I think they 3rd-4th rd will be the ideal time to land one.

Not betting on getting that this draft then.

Especially after Cowboys franchising Schultz.

I do not see the urgency in over drafting a TE project.

If they view Shultz as more of a 1 yr placeholder, it's an very important spot to fill.

They should just pay schultz at this point. Then keep drafting good receivers so you aren't paying them 30/year and boom you are saving 20/year. Use that money to rent jerry's yacht for a day.

Just my .02 because I'm more fixated on filling following positions first: OL, DL, LB, EDGE, SLOT.

I think you're right about not wanting to dismantle our offense this year. But I think we're drafting a WR in the 3rd because we already have Dalton signed. Then release him next year and draft a TE in 2023.

Remember the team loves to get cute. They drafted McGovern when they didn't want to pay Connor. They draft Gholston when they thought they could move on from Lawrence (oops!), They drafted Jospeh to move on from paying Brown (double oops).

This front office is more concerned with dumping salaries than getting the best player. So I totally expect a backup TE over a WR (unless they take one in one, which I doubt)

Of course these are just predictions. So I'm not going to predict they get cute, even if they've done so in the past.

I'm just taking the logical course. They have to pay Shultz anyway, so there's no reason to draft one this year. Draft one next year after they dump Shultz.

This team loves its WRs. The one year they decided to go cheap (2018) forced Jerry to trade for one. I see them drafting a WR before a TE. But I wouldn't put 5 bucks on it.

I think many are going to be disappointed as I think we are about to see a offensive heavy class with very little defensive help. Just look at fa, offense has lost several starters, defense is all back except Gregory and they probably add another edge rusher via the draft or fa

Add me as one of them. Hey, maybe we'll grab a few slobs on defense with our multiple 5th rounders. Hell, we drafted Anthony Brown in the 6th back in 2016 and he's still here. Like a tick you can't reach.

I was afraid the rest of the league would catch on to Jelani Woods.
Now he will not fall out of the top of the 2nd round.
He will be the first TE off the board.
