1. Still guessing DE in round 1...Cox, Coples, Brockers. Sure feels like Spencer is staying at OLB, so we have to add to our pressure with someone on the DL who can win a 1-1 battle and penetrate.

2. Second biggest need is a tie between WR/CB...we have nothing in the 3 receiver sets or as depth behind Austin and Bryant that we can trust, and we have nothing behind our starting CBs. An injury at either position would be crippling for offense or defense.

3. Third biggest need is a tie between Interior Line and TE, depending on the "real plan" which none of us are privy to...are we looking for another G or a C? Will we move someone to C, or are we counting on Costa/Kowalski being better. The real thoughts on these positions by the coaches totally determines whether or not we'd bring in another interior player and cut one of our young guys.

There's no doubt we'll be targeting a TE after the first round somewhere.

Personally, while I know no one is excited about our OL free agent signings, I really think WR and TE will be targeted ahead of an OG.

While Poole was signed for only 1 year, I don't see a Safety in round 1, not unless we're giving up on McCray or Church ever starting. Lots of talk about Barron, who's been injured...I just don't see taking a safety who is not a blue-chipper coming off double-hernia surgery that early in the draft.

I think our top targets are Cox, Brockers, Poe and Barron.

I don't think guard will be targeted in the 1st 3 rounds. I think they like what they have in Livings/Beardeua/Arkin/Nagy.

I think secondary is a huge concern and will be the target. Whether it be Barron in the 1st or a CB in round 2. We will add one of those positions with our 1st 2 picks.

TE will be drafted, but right now just haven't heard much on who they have talked to or invited in for a visit.

Priority in this draft will be defense.

Center remains the glaring weakness in the OL so unless there is some ace up their sleeve I hope they pick one in the first or second round (DeCastro or Konz).

A top DE in the first round and trading up in the second round to get Konz would be okay by me,,, then they can look for their 4th CB and another TE.

I thought there was some comments during Luck's pro day that said DeCastro did not look good at center.

i haven't been following the pro-day stuff but I would expect a top flight guard should be able to convert to center,,, if not that's cool, take the DE in the first, Konz in the second!

this is all assuming DeCastro is gone at 14, because if he isn't, I am convinced they take him (they should)

Most people feel that way, and I would be fine with it....but it would also shock me. I think Brockers (who is only 20, like Smith last year) is going to be a true beast in 2-3 years....he is so big, so strong, and so long for his age, he may be unblockable 1-1.

I'm not interested in the projection of Brockers over the sure-thing of DeCastro.

But that's me...

You left out Coples.

I think either Cox or Coples will be there at 14, and I think we jump with glee in the war room.

No such thing as a sure thing.

I wouldn't mind Decastro either, but there's nothing guaranteed in the NFL draft.

Agreed. But it is a game of percentages. You play those percentages when you can.

no he wasn't.
smith was touted as having unlimited upside but being a bit risky.
he hadn't played any LT in college and while a good collegiate OL wasn't dominating as other guys in film. he was a baby at 21 compared to many OL coming out at 24 or so.

his athleticism and build was what sold him but he was heavily questioned this time last year on these forums.
