Team needs?

This team looks entirely different post trade deadline. The defense particularly looks like it is not even the same team. This defense (productively) looks like a top 5 defense without a true end pass rusher.

The offense looks much better. When Shotty is “on” calling plays this offense is pretty productive. I think he is starting to figure out what this team does well and what it does not.

Having said all of the foregoing, what do you think needs to be added/changed for this team to take it up another level?

I see safety and linebacker as needing help and another legitimate, productive RB. Davis might end up being that guy, but I would like a legit back that causes stress on an opponent.

I would love to see the Cowboys add a FA safety, LB and RB and then stick exclusively to their board regardless of position. Possibly trade back with one of those FRPs and get two more picks in the top 75.

Add a really good safety and linebacker in free agency or the draft. The good news is that the positions they need the most can be drafted outside of the top 20. And I’m worried about right tackle. But by the end of the season Dallas should know what they have in Nate Thomas if they give him reps.

More defense, particularly linebackers and secondary. A good DE would be great but it isn’t near the top of offseason priority.

Davis was so good we cut him. Either we were wrong to cut him, or he is a mirage. We probably need depth at RB.

Yeah, S and LB are way above CB.

I keep asking but no one will answer. W/ Revel/Bland/Carson, how is CB a need at all? Looks like we're solid there.
Safety, CB and maybe even LB with Overshown are all just one injury away from going back to that early season defense. Need some depth for sure at all of them.

I am not seeing any glaring holes. The offense looks elite. The defense is getting pressures. The front 5 is pushing the pocket straight back collapsing on the QB, not a lot of room to step-up. The rotation is working. The receiving corps is the best in the NFL. The TEs are dogs, The WRs are Dogs. The team's priority right now is to get healthy. What ever is going on with Diggs, will clear itself up. However, the team is not missing him. The team is bigger than anyone player and they are clicking on all cylinders.

The record is not great, however, I don't see the Boys slowing down. The pendulum has swung. The offense is clicking, the special team are the best in the league. The defe se is formidable.

That's with all positions.

FS: We don't have one.
LB: We have 2 starters, lack a 3rd one.
CB: 3 quality starters.

No. Assuming they hold on to anyone they have now, I think they're set at OL and WR with depth. Already proven we can ride out injuries in those areas. DT probably set too. Sure, if we lose Q, it would hurt, but you can't replace a guy like that anyways. Could they still hurt teams though with Clark or Osa out? Probably.

Yes. If Q gets hurt, we are not the same D. He's the engine.

No problem taking a 4th round CB for depth, but w/ our two 1sts, we desperately need a FS and a LB.

Wish we still had our 3rd instead of Milton.

I've always liked the backup strategy at QB with proven vet 2nd, and project 3rd. Not happy with the Milton trade either.

I've always liked Davis as a RB2.
He has definitely shown flashes. He has had a couple of legitimate plays the last few weeks that indicates that the Cowboys made a mistake in cutting him.

Similarly, have you noticed that since Flournoy is playing more instead of Tolbert the offense is humming along a lot better. Tolbert has been a zero for pretty much his entire contract here (other than as a blocker). Flournoy has actually been productive when the ball is thrown within a reasonable catch radius.

I think if we don't re-sign Dono, there's a chance that we'll add a cheap FA safety, but we'll still have Hooker, Thomas (RFA) and Bell, so we could wait until the draft to address that position.

Same with linebacker. We lose Murray and Sanborn (but I wouldn't be surprised if Sanborn returns for depth), but we'll have Luke Wilson, Overshown and James.

Running back gets interesting thanks to the play of Malik Davis. If we re-sign Javonte Williams, which we absolutely should, we may be satisfied having Davis to compete with our two young uns, Blue and Mafah, to be the backup.

I think depth positions we could address in FA are center because we're likely to lose Hoffman and defensive end because Fowler, Williams, Clowney and Houston are all FAs. I'm hoping, though, that we at least re-sign Clowney and Houston and then make DE a draft priority.

DE and S top my draft list, followed by LB and RB. If Hoffman leaves and we don't address backup C in free agency, I think we need to add one of those late, but RB and C are the only offensive draft picks I'd add. Of course, I believe we only have six picks to use right now (two firsts, a fourth, two fifths and a seventh).

I absolutely have!!!!

Tolbert is a ball player who lacks the physical skillset to create separation(get open).

Flourney came in raw but has a great skillset and just needed to get up to speed and get some experience.

Tolbert shows the problem with relying almost solely on draft picks. With a hit rate of about 50 percent (or less depending on the round), you are going to miss some.
