Head coach,
should the team reflect his ambitions attitude, demeanor

I can’t give a better example than the Detroit Lions.

Tom Landry,
I totally believe the team was reflection. Of his brilliance.

The clapper
I don’t even want to say his name,
But the team was a reflection of him also. Soft.

The big guy,
I don’t know what he was trying to install into the team’s attitude.

I’m ready for the next chapter

That has to be earned....if they aren't, that HC is not very good. A huge part of being a coach is the psychology side of team building. They don't buy in or have your back, they're all just collecting a paycheck. Coach and players...
 
We better hope not.

A dude that was demoted or fired by 9 other teams before coming to Dallas.

He was made fake OC while McCarthy ran the offense last year. They didn’t even trust him enough to be a real OC.

Dallas wanted McCarthy back but he told Jerry “no thanks”.

So, in comes Schottenheimer who probably agreed to be the most not in control coach in NFL history for this job. I can’t see any other reason for his hiring.

If he left Dallas after last season no team would’ve hired him as their OC, let alone their HC. He would maybe get a job with somebody as a consultant or something. Being a nepo baby has its perks.

If anything he represents the failing up culture in Dallas.
 
great topic and post. I'm giving this regime a chance (as if I have a choice haha) What I'm about to say is positive not trying to turn this thread in a negative way.

Early on- of Vrabel, Belichik, Schotty...my last choice would have been Schotty. NOW, he would be my first choice of the three. Here's why:

Vrabel: I think he is gonna do great stuff in NE but how he insists on running a club, him and Jerry would not last. No chance they could co-exist.

Belichick: His GF is waaaaay too involved in his everyday stuff now. Including attending Spring team activities, being present during his interviews and telling people what cannot be asked etc. I am surprised BB has let this happen. No thanks.

Schotty: this leaves me with him and he seems to be saying things I like and hiring guys that go along with what he says. I hope he is a head coach that devotes his time to all three units equally. Let's see how it goes.

Oh and bringing back McCarthy would have been a horrible move. He needed to go.

Couldn't agree more, hoss. The definition of coming together as a team. Coaches should preach team success over individual accolades. The hard part in the NFL, convincing millionaires to do the dirty work sometimes if it helps the team.

You're correct that'll happen overtime but the fact that he's been in this room already for a while as an OC I think the players do have a lot of confidence and respect for the guy it's not fake..

That leads me to my original thought,

you're right, they have to earn it ,and that is why the players and the coaches that spend more time together would be the positional coaches, the coordinators they usually get a better bond and usually those coaches are the one to imprint those players, the players take on their personalities, if that makes any sense..

I mean they're with them all the time at practice in the weight room in a training room the head coach is not around the players as much as the other coaches...

Think about this when Dan Quinn was here, did the defense reflect Mike McCarthy, they didn't look like Moore, no the defense looked and reflected Dan Quinn's attitude, and I'm sure some of it came from the db room with A highly respected Al Harris.

So given that fact and I believe in this could just be me being positive but look at the accumulation of young aggressive new assistant coaches these are the coaches I think are going to have the bigger impact right away.. Gonna have these offense and defensive line coaches and the receivers coaches and all those guys the running back coats are gonna be in their faces all the time and instill their personalities on these players on what they want and what they expect.

But I'm not too worried about that I just want these players to hold themselves accountable do their job to the best of their ability make the right choices off the field and come out and play every game a 100% no matter what and then everything else will work itself out..

Can't worried about it everybody else's job and who's doing what who's not doing what you just need to have players who want to go out and be the best they possibly can be every game....

Failing up is spot on.
The comfort zone for Dak lazy hire.
And now the selling of said hire.

IF Jerry wasn't so cheap with coach's contract money he may not make his full contract length.
But he still could catch a Wade situation a lot sooner than most people think.
I'll let it play out for now though.

No, I think you need to look towards the assistant coaches the defensive coordinator the offensive coordinator all the new positional coaches there with these players all the time..

Just think about the defense when Dan Quinn was here did they look like Mike Mccarthy? I mean did they seem more aggressive with the dbs because of the head coach or was it a little al Harris and a little bit of Danny Quinn that rubbed off on the defense so yes the coach is Ken in time instill their imprint on the players and the players in turn will carry out what they feel the coaches expect of them.

Yes and sometimes the head coach or an assistant coordinator could affect them in a negative way by being a little soft and calm and never worrying about anything and making excuses and blah blah blah but I believe this new young coaching staff most of the new assistants I think they're going to have more of an impact they seem to all have a similar.

So in some ways yes I agree with your premise but it's more than that it's the entire staff but I like this staff I think just put Brian Schottenheimer out of the equation he picked a great staff that seemed to all be similar they're young aggressive and they come from places where their group were the best part of that team so when you look at the offense and defensive lines the wide receiver coach all these assistants to me should rub off on the players and that would be a good thing..

Just like how teams would be lining up for Garrett to hire we were told. Now we are supposed to believe the Jones boys again have a coach no one wants but they are some how smarter than everyone else?

I remember Jerry saying that Garrett will be a Super Bowl winning coach somewhere. He just wishes it was in Dallas.

I think what? 3 years later Garrett is out of the league? lol

First of all that's hilarious I have this dude on ignore for a reason but since you replied to him I was forced to read what he said does he really believe Mike Mccarthy turned down Jerry Jones or did Jerry Jones tell Mike Mccarthy he was going to have to have a new offensive staff he has to give up his coordinator position and take less money if he wants to stay and Mike McCarthy turned that down but who had control of this Jerry jerry didn't want McCarthy back that bad or he would have been back that's hilarious this dude sitting there with no job right now and somehow he's some belittling Brian Schottenheimer because he don't believe that was Jerry's first choice but Jerry had about 7 other choices and he chose Schottenheimer cause Schottenheimer blew him away in the two interviews and after doing extensive research calling around to his old bosses calling around to his other peers that he's worked with asking the players they liked and gave a great endorsement to Jerry Jones about Schottenheimer..

It's just really weird that people think this was some kind of fall back desperate move that they picked Schottenheimer because they had no other better choice that's insane they didn't get him because he was a puppet and now that he's put together one of what I think is the deepest and best staffs complete staffs we've had here and forever I'd say he's doing a good job so far..

This isn't about one coat this is an assembling of coaches and this is about his personality and so far the way they've been doing free agency in the draft he wants to have specific players he wants to have a nice culture here change the culture well that happened I don't know there's no guarantee but so far I like what I've seen..

Schottenheimer is not Garrett. Schottenheimer has been coaching his whole adult life. Plus, he comes from NFL football royalty in coaching because of his father. Schottenheimer also hired some pretty good coaches who have good records of developing players and getting them to perform well on the field, all things Garrett lacked.
