the new offense showed itself last night. the unpredictability was stunning. who would have thought that even with the backup qb in the game we would have chosen to attack Patrick Peterson. and we stuck to the plan, going against him play after play. i'm beginning to hope rg111 is released by the ravens and we make an attempt to bring him into the fold. on a more serious note, the first team defense looked good. randy shone.

Wow. So we are year 3 into Dak's rookie contract that is up next season and Zeke's is up in 2 years. You just went all in on the OL in terms of salary cap percentage and you are telling me this team is still under construction and waiting? You do realize Dak is going to get paid and so is Zeke. And if what you say is true, we would have massively wasted that opportunity while they were cheap. Yay go coaching staff and front office! We are the epitome of one year away from being one year away. What sums that up is we let Hitchens walk and then use a 1st round pick resource to fill his replacement in LVE who isn't even close to his skill level. So we got weaker in LBs and had to use a 1st round pick just to do it. That sums up the last 2 decades. Drafting to fill holes instead of drafting to strengthen the team.

And strangely refusing to fill other holes.

Misevaluating backup QB and backup OL's.

Passing up obvious draft choices that would immensely help our team.

Yep. Everyone says we draft a lot better these days. I think we are better at picking at the top rounds but overall, the drafting is still poor. And that is why our depth is so poor.

Look, I'm an old redneck sitting on my couch. If I could see from the start that Rush does not have the arm for the NFL, does it not make you wonder exactly what their evaluation of this guy was?

I cannot argue that but I do feel as if I have seen improvement in that area except at coaching. That is the one area that really needs more accountability but considering who owns it, that's not changing.

Yep. Everyone says we draft a lot better these days. I think we are better at picking at the top rounds but overall, the drafting is still poor. And that is why our depth is so poor.

Although we do find an occasional gem like Hitchens, mostly we swing and miss after the first couple rounds. Quite often after round 1!!!! This year's draft does appear to be different, however.

However, not drafting for the S and DT positions is just strange. And no, 7th round fliers are not drafting for a position.

Teddy Bridgewater could start on a lot of teams, I could probably think of more good back-ups but I'm too lazy to look right now.

fleming and looney were more than reasonable free agent signings. joe Thomas and march-lilliard (sp) were reasonable free agent signings. antman woods may yet prove to be a very good acquisition. there is only so much money to spend and the competition to sign free agents by the other 31 teams makes such a thing difficult. and since we're being contrary here, let us not forget the season has yet to begin. think philly was celebrating after last week's preseason game? did screams to kill foles lengthen the crack in the liberty bell.

Well Zeke is our engine but that engine will consistently see 9-10 man fronts with Rush or White back there. Gotta find someone better. Preferably someone familiar with the Norv Turner offense.

Except for decent depth at DE (maybe LB?), if this team has to go below the 1’s, at just a few positions for any length of time, we’ll miss the postseason.

Above average first-team talent, weak depth. Been this way for a long time.
