IRVING, Texas -- With the salary cap set at $143.28 million for 2015, the Dallas Cowboys officially have a cap of $148,298,313, according to ESPN’s Stats & Information.

That gives them $19.15 million in cap room, but that does not include the $12.823 million franchise tag tender for Dez Bryant.

We are 6.5m under the cap after tagging Dez.
Restructure Romo-13m and TSmith-8m and they are 27.6m under
Paycut Carr and get 4m
Restructure Witten and get 2.8m
TOTAL= 34.2m under

Not sure we will restructure Romo again. I don't think we should either. Just be smart and pay him now to minimize his health risks costing us.

Restructure Tyron- I can agree with that due to his youth. DO NOT RESTRUCTURE ROMO OR WITTEN. We need to stop that for old players.
Get a long term deal with Dez that cuts his cap hit this year and we can do what needs to be done with some reserve. IF we can get Carr to take a pay cut that is good as well but DO NOT RESTRUCTURE HIM.

It might be smart to leave Romo's deal alone if all you care about is pure profit. If you want to make your team better then you restructure Romo, TSmith and Witten and sign some good players in FA.

It is that simple.

It is that simple.

While there's obvious risk with another large contract restructure given Tony Romo's age and injury history, his contract was designed to restructured last year and this year.

There was never any intent to have him count $27.773M this upcoming season, that's the largest current cap number in the entire NFL.

If Romo suffers a career ending injury in 2015, he can be released for cap savings in 2016 by using the June designation next year even with another large restructure. There would be an enormous amount of dead money in 2017, it could be $19M or more, but that would still represent a cap savings of $5M or more that season.

And the unadjusted cap will likely exceed $165M by that time, the Cowboys' adjusted cap could easily exceed $170M by then.

I'm not worried about potential future dead money with Romo's contract, it will be dealt with when the time comes.

It won't be the problem, not having Romo under center any longer will be the issue.

So restructure his deal again and focus on building the best possible roster while we still have a QB.

He (as a player, might become a coach in future) and Jason Witten (and Jerry) don't have many shots left at the target.

His base salary is only 8.5m with a cap hit of 17m next year, now is time to restructure which was the plan all along

His dead money will still be less than his cap hit in 2017 with a restructure this year

If you are a Saint fan, you can't be happy. After a bad year you find yourself in the worst salary cap position of any team in the league? Yikes!
