The 90s teams are largely remembered for the Triplets, but those teams all had solid defenses as well. The 21st century Cowboys haven't been able to build that.

Thank you for saying it, I can't believe some posters are saying if Romo plays, Dallas scores more points, wow. When will they realize in order to win big games, then you have to have a solid defense. 31 points at home should be more than enough, and in truth 31 points in most cases, should be enough anywhere.
Romo might have been better at keeping the offense on the field or turning field goals into touchdowns. A better thrown ball to Dez on the opening drive is a TD, possession inside the 20 where we had 3 straight incompletions to Witt doesn't happen with Tony.

This game is a lot different if the offense plays well early.

Those defenses were far better than solid. One year they were #1, and there were legit playmakers at every level.

We had the no.1 defense in 92 and 94 and were top 5 from 92-95.

I can't even count the number of games this team has had where the QB, RB and WR1 all have excellent games yet still somehow find a way to lose.

When it really matters, when all you need is that one stop in a crucial moment, the defense can't get it done. Year after year.

Agree with the fact defense lost game.

How that is on the coaches is beyond me though. The consensus was the defense was a year or two away at best last offseason. Everyone knew the holes and they were many.

The offense carried the team despite a relative lack of turnovers. That gets the offensive coaches off the hook IMO. IDK who said to spike the ball. If Garrett it's a minor error as we still should have scored with that offense and their defense. I suspect Dak spiked it and it's hard for me to blame people for something like that under those conditions anyway.

The fact this team won 13 games isn't just the offense. Marinelli made a great soup out of that mishmash of players to get that far.

You cannot win championships with ordinary players. No coach has ever won consistently without talented players. So Marinelli gets my respect for this year not my condemnation.

As usual most are not being reasonable with their criticism.

The bottom line is the team came out flat and allowed the opponent to get up on them by 3 scores early.

In the regular season against lesser opponents? Yes. You can win some of those. Heck. Maybe even all of them.

But you can't do that in the playoffs and expect to win.

Better players is not going to fix that. At least not completely. Its something else.

Seems like we had similar stats to the loss in 2014. I think it was Romo having a QB rating of 100 or something like that and losing.

Our defense continuously finds ways to lose games.
Romo had the highest QB rating in NFL playoff history while still being on the losing end of a game.
His rating was 144.
4 incomplete passes all day and two were drops.
Still lost.
Like yesterday...and like always...team game.
