This defense needs one more playmaker badly. DT would be ideal, but fantasizing over Payne is a waste of time and emotion.

Parsons being double teamed ought to open opportunities for others, but who up front has really taken advantage of that?

They’ve tried with reasonably high picks….Hill, OO, Gallimore, Williams. They’ve brought in veterans…Fowler, Basham, etc…..

You get what you pay for. They could sign Payne if they wanted to….and as I’ve said elsewhere, if he was their draftee they wouldn’t let him get away. Instead, that money is earmarked for Diggs, who isn’t as good but has been selling #7 jerseys for some time now. The general public and casual fan knows who he is as opposed to Payne.

Before anyone tries to bash me, understand that my point is that the Joneses will 100% pay for a corner that’s their own draftee WAY before they would pay top dollar for someone else’s DT, even if they had the ability to realize which one is more valuable.

Payne would enable Parsons to take his game to the next level. Diggs? Can’t say the same. But that’s not really the priority in Jonesville.

It the brand. It’s popularity. Having players the casual fans know. It’s why there’s even a possibility of retaining a guy like Elliott.

Generally speaking, it’s also why we can’t get over the hump.

Micah Parsons is great. No question. But it seems to me that his performance drastically tapers off the last quarter of the season. Is he banged up? I realize those guys' bodies take a ton of punishment. Is he gassed? The season is longer than college. Is he immature? He's still a kid, granted a hugely talented kid, but I wonder if that goes to his head too much.

Tell me where I'm wrong and why I'm wrong or just what I'm missing.
Out of desparation we use him at DE, and he gets worn down going against 300+ LTs and guards who have hands on him all game. he is a LB. and probably more suited to a 3-4 OLB, where he is going to be a devastating force and a mismatch and a chess piece on each play.

He's doubled and chipped on almost every play. Place a huge, mean and strong 1T in the middle of the line and see how well Parsons plays
And a 3tech that will not be denied.

Wanna know what changed the game around in our 2nd super bowl vs BUFF? Don't forget, they were winning 13-6 at halftime.

In the 3rd qtr, it was a stripsack by our 3tech(Lett) that was returned by JWashington for a TD.

And for the 3 tech to be most effective, you need a disruptive 1 tech beside him that makes some plays and cannot be moved. We got a taste of it w/ Hankins, and Lordawmigthy did he make a difference.

He is being used improperly.
They are using him as a DE way too much.
He is just too small to be rushing the
QB as much as he is.
They need to pick their spots better when they rush him.
Otherwise they're going to wear him out prematurely.
My thoughts exactly. They are making it too easy for the opponents to game plan MP since they know where he will be lined up every snap. And going up against a 340lb behemoth LT every game is not exactly chopped liver. Need to move him around and attack weaker spots and make it more difficult to game plan him. You don't know where you need the help if you don't know where he will line up. He is wearing down in the last quarter of the season, he ain't Superman.

What are you judging him by? If it's sacks QBs started using quick pass game once AB got hurt, so there wasn't much opportunity. Also, teams started to run the ball more too.

Yes, it looked as if Micah was dealing eith an injury. Overall, he's awesome and immaturity isn't a factor at all.

Of course he is banged up and gassed. They played 19 games. They play too many games.

Think it’s a combination of multiple things including perception not being the reality and fans not being able to understand dline play without the easy to follow “sacks” stat. If you watched and listened to the multiple people doing film breakdown there wasn’t an opinion that there was a drop off other than in sacks. That would lead one to believe the issue may have been as much about the people around him as himself. Lawrence played the 2nd half of the season with a foot issue… Armstrong with a banged up knee etc.. The less focus teams have to place on others, the more they can dedicate to him. But yeah, it would be expected and normal for him to wear down throughout the season. Believe I read and article years ago where Demarcus Ware said he would try to get his weight to around 265 before the season opened so he wouldn’t drop below 240 at the end of the season because of endurance issues if he did. Parsons is starting at a lower weight. As long as he’s still creating pressure and forcing teams to have to game plan for him then it’s all good!
100% this.

Absolutely. Everyone does. But, what DLaw needs even more is to stay healthy, a problem he has had for a long time now.
Why can't Parsons and Lawrence be running mates to each other?

They should sign Payne. Cut Zeke and Tyron, let Pollard and Schultz walk, sign Payne and free agent receiver, and draft 2 backs.

He needs to be our MLB that occasionally rushes from the edge
Personally, I think he stunk at MLB with zero impact on inside runs. I’d play him at OLB and let him run to the ball, pursue from the backside, destroy the screens, and blitz.

They changed up the defense after allowing 240 and 207 rushing yards to the Bears and Packers. Those changes improved the run defense at the expense of the pass rush.

It's that simple.
