I think that we. Media included. Need to temper our expectations. We're off to a great start. But we've lost to the one truly good team we've played. Say what you want, the Saints aren't very good right now.

Love my Cowboys. But I've been hearing way to much super bowl talk.
The media is what it is in this era. It is paid to sensationalize everything. However, I would enjoy seeing some substantiation for one of these threads, which are created by just plain folks about the supposed reactions of other just plain folks. Sure, a handful of other posters on a fan website might post exactly what is being alleged by another poster, but does that necessarily mean that a hundred or more actively posting members share that same opinion? Does it mean that the thousands of non-actively posting members (those who lurk) share that same opinion as well? I do not know.

Suddenly, the poster, known only as DallasEast, is possessed by the spirit of Captain Murtaugh!

"So, Dallas fans in general have begun making outlandish claims about the Cowboys? That sounds pretty (family forum) thin."

whoa. Where did THAT come from?

WE ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL.....like it or not, which I don't think some will as then they can't say they were right about this team, but we will be there....live with it!!!.....:D

Wide range of expectations here, so everyone can probably self manage and come away in one piece. Not to mention, we aren't here to build consensus. It all works out.

The same thing was said by the team and the fans about the Saints game, and after the Cowboys won easily, the Saints suddenly aren't very good. Even if the Cowboys beat the Seahawks, people will say the Seahawks are not as good as last year.

Personally, I don't care. I hope we play the worst team in the league every week if it means a win because all that matters is winning games. Teams are judged by what they do or don't do in the playoffs, but you have to get to the playoffs first and you do that by winning as many games as you can during the season. It doesn't matter how easy/hard the games are as long as you win enough of them. If the Cowboys lose to the Seahawks by 30 points or 1 point, it's all the same to me because it's a loss, which in the end, is all that counts or matters.

Great post.
I am taking this game for what it is, it's 1/16 of the regular season. This game will not make us or break us, nor the season.
We will be 5-1 and feeling great, and the NFL and fans will take notice. We lose and go to 4-2, that is better than most people had us. I had us at 3-3.
However, it will be what this team does beyond this point.
Win, but still keep winning, still a long way to go to get the playoffs. Don't go big head and slack off.
Lose, but don't let it derail you, there are some winnable games ahead to get to 7-3 or even 8-2 for the bye week.

So, we can be fans, but we can't be excited or optimistic?
That, my friend, is the $64 billion dollar question.

And it is a damn shame that it should ever be asked.

I hope you will get a few replies. They may be interesting. :)

I trust FO more than NFL.com...FO is play by play. The Saints offense is not the same as years previous. The loss of Darren Sproles hurts them, as Brees would always dump it off to him in space under pressure. He gave them back what they lost when Bush left. Moore is gone, Henderson is gone and Meachem has not really been all that effective. Graham and Colston each have a case of the dropsies over the past few weeks. They can put up points yes, but how many did they put up against teams with winning records? At home against Bridgewater and the Vikings, they only put up 20. I would easily take the offenses of Denver, Seattle and Dallas themselves. The Saints play too much chuck-ball, as evidenced by the 57 attempts and 3 INTS Brees put up last week. His play has dropped off this year as well.

There is no "trusting" involved. The Saints are #2 in offensive yards. Indy is #1.

Yardage is the same metric used to ranking the Cowboys defense last in 2013.

Evolution of a Cowboys game ..

Before we play a team = opponent is true test of how good or bad we are
After we beat a team = opponent was not very good, win means little
After we lose to a team = told you so, we're not very good

This is true, however, many posters that have predicted 4 or 5 wins for this season get to crow about how right they were if the Cowboys lose, and if the Cowboys win the "prediction" was just an "opinion".

Also, there are a few around here that "predict" that they will be right at the end of the season by "predicting" that the Cowboys will win 6 to10 games! Duh...how can you be wrong with a prediction like that! lol

I have never made a "prediction" or an "opinion" because I don't want to look silly if I am wrong. So, this time I will make a "prediction" and I will not be wrong. I predict the Cowboys will win from now on 6 or 10 more games for the regular season and I will be right in the end! Period! lol

I still think it's cool we are only 5 weeks into a season most predicted anything from 3-13 to 6-10 expect for the "rose colored glass wearing" types who were brave enough to say another 8-8 record and we're already being told to temper our expectations.

You are forgetting something. The Cowboys beat the Saints, so, the Saints are not really good this year.

See how that works?

How can you be wrong with a 3-13 or a 6-10 prediction? But, I have seen it and when it/if it comes true, the gloating goes on. lol

I'll be fine with it if all of the teams in the NFL are "terrible" and the Cowboys "luck" into a 15-1 record.

I think this game comes down to how well Garrett has them prepared and his game plan before the game. If he can get them fired up and hitting on all cylinders, it will be a good game.....I just don't trust him that much but that's just me.

Well, to be honest, Garrett can give the most emotional Vince Lombardi speech in his life, but the players are the ones that have to execute on the field. Garret is not on the field. So, I don't understand your mistrust.
