Per the article, he gives all his info/recommendations to Jerry and Stephen correct? Then Jerry and/or Stephen makes the decision, if I understood the article correctly. So can you really blame the draft or FA signing on him? Just asking.

Over the past six seasons, the Cowboys have the most Pro Bowlers and All Pro from drafted players in the top three rounds...yea, above New England.

That doesnt seem to resolve. Someone brought up 12-4 on page 2 and the first mention of 4-12 was in a reply on page 3 and 2 more after your post.

When one closes one's eyes, and only churns disappointment on the trophy levels...it never will resolve at any other time.

Topic was McClay and what his position is and a lot of posts were on how terrible the team is. I think McClay will be a GM soon for another team, he can't in Dallas, but you will hear a lot of the same things with or without him. And no that is not a Jerry complaint.

I went back and reread the thread, there were very few negatives in the first 2 pages. The "negatives" intially were "If you are going to print supporting evidence, couldnt you find more than Ernie Sims and Hayden" That was more of a critique of the author.

After that, there was some counterpoints for criticisms around the true talent for which he was responsible.

The irony is, if he is the prized goose, there is no way to keep him. That's a bit of an unsettling takeaway

Not sure on unsettling after all no one will give any credit to how he was promoted or that another team will recognize that he has front office acumen.

You can read many people in this thread that like him and give him credit.

My question is , if he is the reason for the turnaround, why do you let him go?

That is part of the problem. They view a wildcard win and a divisional loss as "unproductive". They have standards, real ones. Especially after seven straight seasons in the playoffs including a world title.

Us? We view the same (first in several years) as some sort of sign for the future and "success". You know, just like you do.

Amazing, isn't it? If we'd have had that level of "success" in terms of multiple playoff appearances, playoff wins and a SB victory in that same time frame, Jerry would be hailed as a legit GM and one of the best in the business, Garrett would be a perennial coach of the year and we'd be inundated with more Landry comparisons than we are now, Romo would be HoF bound, McClay would be the secret sauce in our front office and we'd be giddy at the prospects of Stephen taking over such a well oiled machine that he helped build by being the guy that kept Jerry grounded.

Instead, it's used as some evidence of failure by the same folks who defend one playoff win in 20 years and still view Garrett as a top notch HC. Oh the irony and sheer hypocrisy. But at least it's entertaining.

Solid and shows up for work.

God help us. Are we this desperate for mediocrity?

You act like Hayden was making big money.

And do you follow the National Football League?

Not everyone is a true professional.

Hayden maximized the scant talent he was "blessed" with. Good for him.

Gracious! OK, bless all our substandard talent we fuss over. Happy, mate?
